So in the USA we are stuck with the non projector headlights. I had good look with ddmtuning.com apexcone HID kits on the 08 mazda3 but it was a projector lens. Anyone put the HID's on our little 2 yet? Any issues? on youtube all I pull up is a guy with hids on his 2 that click every 10 seconds as the car is confused as to whether the lows or highs are engaged.

Thanks,

Yeah, keep in mind that you'd want to use a bi-xenon kit so you can keep your high beams; the ones I've seen on Xenon Expert are in the $250 range. While we don't have projectors, our headlights do seem to have a decent cutoff so I suspect there's a good chance that, properly aimed, you could get an HID kit to work.

I will buy an HID kit probably no later than september.

DwWebster your avatar is ironic as I have a domo on my 2.

Found him in a grocery store in Little Tokyo in downtown LA last fall.

Hey man
I've got Kensun 10000k HID's in mine!
They have great service.
It's a bit bright though but it looks great.IMG_0132.webpIMG_0133.webp

Worst case scenario if he doesnt post I have my hid set for my 3's fogs I could rig in for a minute to see how they shine (put the old low beams in my wifes mazda5 but hers didnt have fogs so they sit in my garage).

Hey bud
I'm not with my car atm, I'll be home tomorrow if you can wait to then.
The height isn't really the problem, it's more the brightness itself.
I keep my lights between setting 2 and 3, 3 in town.
I'll take some pics for you tomorrow

Ooooh...in europe leveling headlights are required so they all have the control on the dash...here in the states its not required so none of us have control of the level unless we get out of the car and manual change the headlight ourself.

Can you do me a favor and post some photos of it when you get a chance? Want to see the blinding factor as well as how badly it spreads light since its not a projector lens.

do yourself (and everyone else on the road) and do a proper projector retrofit to the headlights, rather than sticking a HID kit in the stock housing. those pictures posted by MSBurger show a TON of glare all over the place.

Hello,

I am a noob talking about car accesories, I just bought and installed a HID kit for my Mazda 2, An H4 kit for headlapms and an H11 kit for foglights. I noticed a lot of glare (like the pictures above). How can I fix this? Do I need to buy other accesorie?

Thank you,

HIDs will glare like crazy in a regular reflector headlight. It is best to use them with projectors, especially since you will probably end up blinding people unless you aim your headlights low. Do yourself a favor and do/buy a retrofit.

Retrofit of after market halo bulbs are the only way to go, the HID in reg does blind peeps like crazy
