regular protege motor

How about some pix? I posted mine and I have one of the dirtiest engine bays so don't be shy. What manifold are you using? I'm just trying to get these newer guys caught up on how we do things.

Dude you rocked me. It's that tough skin from getting beat up that got you by. Everyone else will lower 6 or more health with a punch and you go down 1. Man my fighter is speeding up so I think I may get you soon.

and for you might know a bit more than me... check out this motor, i think it's a 1.8.. i can pick it up pretty cheap..however, i wanna build a 2.0..

so, if this is a 1.8 what would need changing? is the crank different?oil squirters? etc??

The difference is 0.2. (rofl)

LOL sorry man I had to. They use a different coil and have a smaller crank. Supposedly they are very similar but I really don't have that much experience with that motor. What is it a 99 protege block?

it was said to be an 02.. but ill be damned if it looks like the 2.0 judging from the valve cover, no mounting spots for the coil packs...

i just wonder if i'd be able to make it a 2.0 without any REALLY bad issues.. i can get it for 80.00.. it was hydrolocked..
 
It's not an 02 unless maybe it's a miata motor their confusing for a FWD. I was going to point out the mounting spot for the coils.

Hydrolocked? I'd stay away from it if I were you. It's probably got a bad rod, spun bearing, or bad crank. You name it water can do a lot of damage inside of a motor.
 
you cannot turn a 1.8 into a 2.0 liter. the block is shorter, the crank is different, the rods are different and the pistons are different. head is the same.
 
That and it's a bad motor. So just for a head it's not worth it.

Neox is quiet... Wait that wasn't a joke, I have a spare head of a blown motor I replaced a while ago. I had a broken head so I sent back a broken block and a broken head.
 
I'll probably have an oportunity to pass during the week to get it. Good that your getting it all together rather quickly. They seem to have their act together there at Havoc. If it does go well we can have a reputable shop in the (what is it) central valley.

It's hard to find a reputable shop that can work on these cars even though it is real easy. The hard parts are getting space, maybe a lift, having the right tools and the time to work on the car.

You order the rest of the parts? If you have the oportunity have him relocate the MAF to the charge pipe with the BOV a few inches in front of it or on the charge pipe.

do you have an externally wastegated turbo ?? or a manifold that has an external wastegate?... buy my turbo kit, you'll be able to do that.

That's an old spool manifold, you need a manifold and turbo set up for an external wastegate. Its expensive.
All in due time, let's first worry about getting the car running and set some money aside for the turbo parts.
 
what kind of turbo do u have..... i have a t25 buty i guess it all f*** up and my manifold is cracked... if u go back u could see my car orgn1 took some pic i bought a motor for him. so how much...
