Hi all. Just thought I would mention how I found you guys and gals. I saw a yellow P5 at the Mpls. Auto Show 3 weeks ago and it really caught my eye. What a neat looking little car I thought.
But of course I am 41 years old and have never bought a new car in my life. I wasn't about to start now. Let someone else buy new. I always search out immaculate cars after they are 3 to 4 years old and then keep them looking new. Let someone else take the depreciation hit. Still...that little car looks cool. Great overall design, fantastic styling, zillions of standard features, tons of cargo capacity, and 31 MPG all for <$20k? Not bad...not bad.
So I tell my older brother what I found at the Auto Show. Oh yeah, he says, "I was thinking of getting one of those". What? My brother the die-hard Toyota fan? No way. But we go look at one at a local dealer and both test-drive it. Neat little car. Still, no way either one of us is going to actually buy one. He also NEVER buys new cars and front-wheel drive? Out of the question.
You see we are both long-time, dyed in the wool sports car fanatics - has to be rear wheel drive. My brother's summer ride is a 1991 Toyota Supra turbo and mine is a 1988 10th Anniversary RX-7 turbo. Both still look brand new. Still...that little car would make a good year round driver. And it looks so cool...hmmm
To make a long story short, (I know...too late) there are now 2 new members to your little club. As of March 23 we both now own 2002 P5s. You should have seen the look on the salesman's face when we came in and said we both wanted one. "You BOTH want one?" That's right pal, write it up.
Mine - Vivid yellow 5-speed P5. ABS w/side airbags, factory alarm, moonroof and deflector, polished wheels, floor mats, cargo net, wheel locks, stock stereo.
My brothers - Exactly the same in all details except added cassette deck, (to plug adaptor in for his Mini-Disc player).
Kicker is we live only 3 miles apart. Have the neighbors confused already!
