I was referring to the tuning guide. So in order to get the software update, you have to flash the ecu huh, any idea on how much that costs and where to do it?

I am still working on this and haven't forgotten. I've been building some gauges and doing some transmission work and one of my brothers is moving this weekend so I'm getting butt kicked right now... but I'll be on top of it all I promise! :)

I'll definitely get that updated in the manual then for the "extra" wires that are in the harness... and I didn't realize I had forgotten you on the coolant fix!! I'll get that out to you early next week. Sorry about that!

Your maps are doing alright for you and things are working? Let me know if I can help out on any of it though, happy to give a call whenever!

I go through phases so I'm sort of procrastinating. I have a base map now that works great and runs a constant 14.7. It is the correction factors I need to work on but the last thing I want to do before I go to work is boot up the comp and work on it. When I went down to dyno tune I picked up an air filter and velocity stack so I'm gonna work on that first before I make any changes to the correction factors. That way I have more consistent air temps and I don't have to do it again.

Hey steve I talked to the guys at the tuning shop about getting my dyno sheets. I have them now but you must run the dynojet software. This I don't have on my comp. If I emailed it to you would you run it and then print the screen to show everyone.

I'm not sure what your mods are... I seem to think/remember that your car wasn't too worked in the engine department... but anyway.. looks like a nice curve... AFR was pretty darn flat too.

Good stuff! : STD correction. Smooth 5 - 122.7 whp, 135.71 wtq.

That gap there was a problem with the primary ignition coil signal. The numbers are good though. I think I made gains of about 4 and 6 hp and torque respectively. More to be had once the intade is made. I'm on a stocker right now with a dirty filter.

Holy s*** Batman!! Are you serious? OBDII Compliant?
That's what he says. I don't see how he'll be able to trick the ECU into doing that, unless the unit incorporates the OBD2 .

The unit is crap!!! Hahaha! J/K! Sorry I haven't been much help here with reviews and all but my car has gone through another transition so I will be back up and running in a week or so and will start hardcore tuning for some serious power. Gotta catch up to my RX7. It's funny when I can honestly tell people that my STi is the slowest car I own!!! Hehehe!

Dave

The sti stock of modded?

Not really that hard.. you just have to know what the ECU wants... we allow it to see the motor running, and we fake a bunch of the signals for it.. that way it thinks everything is happy and great.. I'll likely be a small module that we'll add... it's not that bad.. the biggest hold up is that my car can't be worked on for this... so I have to use a different one that I don't have as much access too and it's making it much much more difficult!

What are your mods and so forth? i'm also curious as to your timing curve.. I'm going to guess it is far too conservative... I'd bet you can almost double those gains with a better tune.. they tuned it too lean for power as well.. great for "driving" but in WOT it should NOT be that lean (run closer to 12.9-13.1 and you'll pick up more power).

Later!

As far as performance mods I've got a header back exhaust and a lightweight flywheel. Those are the only things I can think of that would alter my power numbers. The tune is conservative. I can only run on 91 here in CA and it was tuned to have no ping but the timing is as far forward without pinging

I'd be curious to see what you are getting for timing.. on 91 octane full throttle etc you should be able to run about 30 degrees to as much as 34 I'd estimate...

If you richen up under WOT only you'll get the good gas mileage of on the street and pick up another 3-5 horse as well for power. Sounds like you had a decent tune done.. I'd love to see the maps to get an idea of what they did and didn't do to! :)

Here is My fuel map. as you can see it is a lot leaner than the aussie 227cc file:

Actually when comapring my map and the other sent to me it's a lot leaner at low load and a lot richer at high load.

(cheers)(thumb)(mj)2500th post only took like 4 years
