New MSP intake on the block!

Hey!

A while back I posted that Delsing MOtorsport was working on a very unique intake, well here are some pics of the prototype. The true results are beyond our initial expectations. Utilizes a stock K&N filter. This one was hand laid fiberglass, limited production ones may be carbon fiber.

The intake symphony under full and partial throttle is awesome!

Godspeed!

hmm I was under the impression that the whole reason for an aftermarket intake was to eliminate all the 90 degree bends in the stock one...any dynos to show what gains this will produce and if these gains are significant over having just a k&n filter....

Well damn. I was just fabbing one up just like this!

Yous looks way nice, I'll be on the list as long as it replaces tha lower box and doesn't require cutting it up.

The whole reasone for an intake is to decrease intake air temp. for those who cannot do an FMIC, every bit may help.

Remember Mazdas dyno numbers with thier FMIC was with the factory box.

YES!!!

Glad to see that the airbox I sent you went to good use.;) Looks very nice Dave. Hmmm... CF intake? (drool)

I don't know why you would think it is lame, it is a different option than what is out there now. It also looks like a very good option for a lot of people.

unless is stainless steel and over priced its not gonna get much of a response here...sad but true.

Looks great to me though!

Cool! But wouldn't a cone filter behind that awesome heatshield be better in terms of flow increase?

The volume of air is still restricted by the piping diameter. Only so much air can enter the inlet pipe at a given time no matter what type of filter is used. The airbox acts as a heatshield of sorts already. That's my guess (shrug)

The main purpose of an airbox on cars is to smooth intake turbulance. I think this is an awesome idea and can't wait to see the results.

Word Splooged WERD!!!

So will we see this finished product in what? 8-10 months ;)

Lets get this baby in production!!!!!!!!

Would this be STX legal? Looks cool!
Recent clarifications from SCCA refer to the "body structure must remain unmodified" clause in the STX rules. This includes the coolant bottle, so unfortunately it is not legal for STX. They decided that moving it was changing the "body structure." Pretty lame I think.

It looks good, but the intake piping is what need to be replaced, due to diameter restrictions, the lengh betwenn turbo and MAF,and the flow restrictions(90deg bend, and ribbed sections) but I really like your heat shield.

I see. Thanks for the info!

I think something along the lines of an injen will better, but for something decent power increase on the cheap, probably can't beat this. Also retains most of the stock setup which is either good or bad depending how you look at it.
