The US EVO 8 Specs.

Awesome...thanks for posting that. It looks like the Intercooler water sprayer made it into production. Did anyone else notice the HID headlights and the REAR rally style wiper. I also like how the tachometer is mounted right in the middle and is larger than the speedometer...brings back memories of my RX7 dash. I can't believe some of this stuff got put onto the production model. They even have a section that talks about the special maintenance it will need...lol....even though most of it is common sense for a turbo car.

Ah, number 2 on my list. They said Jan 3 it will be out, I can't wait.

Also I almost forgot .............the teaser poster...

That's what we can call A NIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE CAR!

Unfortunately, we will not get it in Canada......:( :wtf:

WOW! Is 30K a conservative $ figure? Nice production model, although I'd go 4 a black model with the smaller rear wing. You could put a swing set on the big wing! Plus, the local constable would be targeting you just for that Road Runner type whale tail.

All you MSP-to-be owners (myself included) should bow to this car. Although the price is higher, you certainly get "bang for your buck." Love the must use Synthetic Oil tag....and the wonderful warnings!!

Hmmmm should be out in Jan. huh???? Maybe I should look into this to replace the P5 when the lemon law stuff is over. Anyone know the price for sure or anywhere to find it out. That thing is sick looking. Bet the performance is mind blowing too.

MSRP is just under 30Gs but don't count on getting that price.....there are stealerships jacking it another 10Gs since the high demand for this car.....but then again look at how SCC reviewed the EVOVii :"Physics?Bah! Who cares? The new Evolution ignores those laws as easily as it ignores speed limits." SCC Josh Jacquot

Yes, unfortunately they did!

But Mr. Gagnon says that Canada will have to wait for the exotic EVO Lancer. That rally-bred Mitsubishi super-car will be seen on the roads of PlayStation 2's Gran Turismo 3 or in the US. But not here, not yet. The American market gets 6000 of the desirable high-performance EVO 8s.

"It's mainly the bumper standards in Canada," says Mr. Gagnon. "The low volume of EVO sales in Canada wouldn't warrant the redesign expense at this point. We'll probably have to wait until the next redesign, when the car will be built for full North American compliance."

Canadian Driver link about Mitsubishi Canada

to think we're not going to get one the best preformance cars out there because of a stupid bumper! i wonder if it would be worth it to buy one in the states and bring it over? probably not.

i wish it looked better....id find a way to shell out the 30k guaranteed if i could get a LHD EVO V (that I wouldnt have to sneak through registration to make it street legal in the US)

alright fine. I lied. I like the new EVO VIII :)

saw a pile of spy shots on evolutionm.net or somethin and its nothing a new front bumper (which also replaces the grill) couldnt fix.....i dont like it as much as the EVO V still, but its alright...

[mildly incoherent rant]
on a side note.....I think the EVO, STI, and maybe even SRT-4 should be produced in limited numbers.....I think its reasonable to say that longevity aside, any car company COULD stuff a big engine into a little car and come out with a ridiculous bang for a little buck.

I think it might have been better if these super whammo-nine cars came out in limited numbers, like 2-5k.....something like that.....and left the normal production small cars to the 200hp range......a genteleman's agreement of sorts, which could conceivably cause the competition between a 170hp protege, 180hp lancer (isnt that funny that the lancer goes from a normal weak fwd version to a 275hp awd monster with no in between mode....) 170hp focus, 175hp spec-v etc etc.....to focus more on quality than power. since the power is already there on all these models (except maybe the lancer) they could spend future years of revisions improving interior, stereo, bells-n-whistles, engine efficiency/quality.

Spend next year's research and development on how can we get better mileage out of this engine while maintaining performance, or how can we make these seats more comfortable - instead of how can we stuff a FMIC in here and still get it through crash tests or how can we stuff the 2.3l mazda 6 powerplant in the new mazda3 engine bay to blow the competition away?

I dunno.....I see the msp and spec-v as being ahead of the game, even in looking at the interior on STIs EVOs or SRT4s and would love to be car shopping and see all these sport compact cars offering attention to detail in that same way. Make a 2.5rs with all the interior amenities of the msp and a comparable aftermarket suspension. Make the OZ lancer an equal to the msp in every way.

im sure none of this makes sense, but it felt good to rant :)
I think this was brought on by my pent up anger towards the srt-4 and set off my my disappointment with the center console/dash in the new EVO (its nice, i just had higher expectations from such an awesome car). Dont get me wrong about the neon, i have no problem with cars being faster than my wittel (read: little in a baby voice) msp.......but a neon tampering with sti/evo power levels? a 20k compact car that can smoke a mustang GT in the 1/4??? now everything has gone to s***. my problem with the srt4 might just be that I have so much respect for the STI/EVO and all of a sudden those ppl lucky enough to get one might find themselves running along side a.......NEON?

durp.

EDIT: i just read above that there will only be 6k EVOs but I think my rant remains....kinda....sorta....
[/mildly incoherent rant]

ok. im done......pls dont flame me too hard ;)

This is an amazing car. What Sub and Mit got going on its truly amazIng. I would lovee to own any of this autos.

But did anyone noticed the 2.5mph bumpers. I thought it was a requirement to have a 5mph bumper.

Yeah I noticed that too...but then I did a little thinking. I know that if I crashed an EVO i'd be going well over 2.5mph!!! :D Not to mention all of the stuff in the front end....like the intercooler with a water sprayer and the HID headlights. That is going to be one expensive car to fix if it is wrecked.

Think Subaru has any competition?

Oh yeah man. You should check out some of the Suby pages. They are basically in the same mode as Mitsu. Base model with 4wd and turbo I4 based on the WRC rally car. Suby has had their STi models for several years but has never brought them to the USA. Just as Mitsu they will be introducing their LAncer EVo, Suby will also the first time later this year. There will be a Suby announcement on STi at the Detroit show on Jan 6. I personally cannot wait to see the Subaru specs. It should have the twin scroll turbo like the Lancer and slightly more power and better handling. MSRP is expected to be no more than 31,995. :D
