The US EVO 8 Specs.

I think it might have been better if these super whammo-nine cars came out in limited numbers, like 2-5k.....something like that.....

my problem with the srt4 might just be that I have so much respect for the STI/EVO and all of a sudden those ppl lucky enough to get one might find themselves running along side a.......NEON?

No flames slug. I know the numbers for the STi are 1700 + pre sold orders and probably no more than 3000 total. At least that's what the rumor is since it is not really confirmed. I have heard the Lancer is going to be like 6000. That seems like a lot to me too considering it will be $28k or more base price.

I know what you mean about the SRT4. I think we should wait to see though. As far as I know there is no production models out and we don't what the final spec will be. It does seem some how that something is wrong with the universe when a neon has more power than a standard Imprezza WRX. And also yes, why does Mitsu have a base Lancer (about $17k) and then the EVO ($28k or more). Doesn't make too much sence to me. At least Suby will have three Imprezza model trim versions, base, WRX, STi.

Every one is forgeting that Nissan is bringing the Skyline to North America!!! Whent hat car comes out. OMFG!!! i was reading there are thinking of a Turbo V6 or a V8 to power the car. That car is going to be sick and think is looks way better then the Lancer EVo and the Subaru!! IMO

the new skyline is most likely going to have a v8 from what i've heard...

as for the evo and the sti...both of those cars have been out for years elsewhere but subaru was really the first to strike the US market with a turbo awd car...but yeah the insurance is going to be high on both of those cars...

wow, the STI production is REALLY limited, i thought it was gonna be normal production, just in smaller numbers....and whats the deal with the EVO having a BASE price? and the STI too? at 1500 or even 6000 cars, look at mazda for example, you generally dont have options on cars in that ltd production do you?

i agree with kooldino...when i saw the evo8 pics a while back with the new front fascia i was totally turned off...the evo7 looks so much better in comparison

We won't really know what is base and what is options on the STi until jan 6th or maybe even after that when they announce options. DCCD (The driver controlled torque split) looks like a big option. I don't imagine there is much past that except for exhaust, body kit, and fog lights. Mostly just accessories, not really options. I also agree with Kooldino. The EVO8 nose is really lame compared to the 7.

The skyline will be in competition with the rx-8, the NSX and the 350z it will not be in competition with the LAncer and Sti they are in totally different classes. When Nissan first announced they were bringing the Skyline the said the price will be around the 100K mark according to SCC so we are talking apples and oranges. just my .02 cents

well there's always the 2004 WRX STI which brings the specs to 275hp AWD. 0-60....5.08sec 1/4mile 13.99sec. which is not enough but look at the WRX 22B STI.

the 22b was a coupe and was a super limited edition...only 440 were every made...i don't think it would be an even comparison with the evo since it's a coupe and it has a lot more performance enhancements...the sti saloon is a more even comparison
