OBD2 Scanner/App: what sensors/values to monitor?

Today the temp peaked at 226 on my way back. Yesterday it went up to 222 on the way over. Same route, similar traffic condition. MPG is down to below 35 which is the normal average.

What’s the coolant temp in relation to the engine oil temps ?
It goes up when in traffic but otherwise stays below 200 when the oil temp hikes.

The first chart is from yesterday afternoon, one hour trip back from one job. The flat line is because I forgot to disconnect and it kept logging.

The second one is this morning, half hour trip to another.

Have you ever cut open your SuperTech filters? I saw a video and it looks like it has a center tube with the largest openings for filtered oil to come through. Most filters designed for longer OCI have center tubes with small cuts/holes.

Something to keep in mind on engine oil temps. The 2.5 turbos have an actual oil temperature sensor, most of the NA models do not and it is a calculated temperature based on engine coolant and vehicle load.

Thank you! I didn't know that. Was surprised that I could even get the ATF temp on a CX-3 mid trim. Even if it is a calculated number, it is the only number I can go by.

I will make a chart later for engine load, coolant temp, and oil temp from the log.

ATF temp is real in any Skyactiv and measured in the pan.
