What's your engine OCI and what weight do you use. What's your oil temperature? Mine is NA and today it went up to 224 at one point during a long drive.
Currently between 7K and 8K miles. Had a sample analysis done a few years ago and was told that I could go longer. Rarely had to top off in between. I drive 2K+ miles per month and 90% freeway. Been using all major brands of 0w20 full synth around $30. Tried 5w30 once and didn't notice any difference back then. For my current and last round, Royal Purple 0w20 and the mpg has gone up significantly. I was happy at first but then I wonder how thin must it be to achieve mpg higher (35 to 40) than what the factory intended (27/32/29 let's call it 30)? What kind of friction modifier in there works better than LM's formula as an additive (have added that in the past)? Will collect a sample for this round for sure. Can someone else try RP and see what happens? What's your engine OCI and what weight do you use.
In my case atx and engine oil temps are close to each other.
I change engine oil every 3.5k/4mo SuperTech 0W20 Full Synth as it does more short drives around the town (35%hw/65%local).
