What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Took it to get my all seasons swapped back on. They’re telling me I need new rear brakes (2 and 3mm each, respectively) and my front driver side ball joint is failing again, recommending another control arm replacement. 🤦🏼‍♂️ a little annoyed, but the car is rock solid otherwise.

Taking it to get a second opinion, rear differential fluid, transfer case fluid, and transmission fluid replaced in Minneapolis this upcoming week.

We traded our ‘22 Signature on a 2026 Honda Passport Trail Sport…The CX-5 was an amazing vehicle but it was time for a change, which we do every 3-4 years.

Removed and replaced the faulty centre display monitor. It took me around 50-60 minutes to do it by myself after watching some YouTube videos. No more ghost touch screen for me for a while
My wife has been complaining about hers. Did yours exhibit problems while driving? I had assumed that it would not, given the touch screen is disabled (while moving).

Also, where did you get a replacement & how much?
 
The ghost touch happens only when the car is stopped or barely moving. Once you gain speed, touch screen is inhibited. I found the display on e-bay, payed a total of 265. Ordered it Sunday, got it today and installed it immediately. Price varies, I've seen some under 200$ and other one even at 600. I tried to find one that was "grade A" and they even posted the VIN number and the mileage of the originating car. The lower the mileage, the better the screen should be. If you have a Phillips screwdriver, a No. 10 socket, a small extension and a ratchet, you're all set.

Did the second oil change on our 8/24 CX5 Akera 2.5 NA @ 10,000kms.

The next one will be done by the Mazda dealer at the standard 15,000km service interval.

Used Penrite Enviro+ 0W-20 Full Synthetic Engine Oil, 4.5L. You wont see it in the US, its a locally blended premium oil.
 
Ignition coils -- Installed new set (4ea, OEM ignition coil). The car had thrown a P0300 code and a check-engine light. Noticed rough idling, idling at lower than normal speed, some hesitation when accelerating away from stops. Last time I changed spark plugs, I didn't change the coils at the same time (which I didn't think would be necessary). Easy 15min swap to the new ones. Immediately after installing the coils, the CEL cleared, idling RPM was steady and normal, all roughness and minor stumbling ceased, and the performance was zippy again. Those coils aren't inexpensive, I will say that for them. But they seemed to do the trick.

Spark Plugs -- Thought I had a set of 4 sitting around, but couldn't find them. Purchased the NGK Ruthenium plugs from RockAuto, as it was approaching time to do plugs. Hopefully there will be some of that added smoothness and fuel economy that some have suggested seems to occur. We'll see.

How many times have you changed plugs and what is the mileage on the car?

Original plugs were swapped out at ~80Kmi. Wasn't soon enough, as performance was a bit off, and the plugs showed clear wear.

Had planned on waiting until 150Kmi, so this second change will be a bit early @ ~130Kmi. But, have wanted to try the NGK Ruthenium plugs. And with the prices from RockAuto being what they are, I figure it's not all that much "lost" value squeezed from the existing plugs.

Topped up the battery electrolyte.

Yes the CX5 2.5NA (with iStop) and probably all other models in Australia with iStop come with “Enhanced Flooded” batteries that need to be maintained by checking the electrolyte levels and topping up with demineralised water - not the sealed, maintenance free models that come with many cars.

I had forgotten about doing that because on our previous CX5 I had replaced the factory battery with a sealed maintenance free version.

Had to go and buy a new container of demineralised water too.

I did the same last year. (or was it the year before?) I'm still using the original battery in my 2016.5. The battery is of the type that has removable plugs for each cell of the battery. Just unscrew them and do a check. After checking, each cell was a bit low, so I topped em with distilled water.
