Er, you can get the CX-9 as a FWD.
Correct and has some level of torque steer

True, but not on the signature trim. I don't think you'll see this engine in the lower trims.
Again. Mazda corporate didn't dictate that decision for Australia.
Mazda should be underpromising/overdelivering versus their record of doing the opposite- maybe this is the start of a new trend![]()
I'm not so sure. I'd think those in charge of regional markets know their customer better than Mazda HQ.
Alright. I give up. You always have to have the last word. If I'm wrong I'll happily say so.
Later.
There's plenty of demand for CX-5 as it is. They're trying to make 6 more attractive in order to sell more to meet CAFE requirements and even out production. As for 2.5T in CX-3, that just too weird for words!Confirmed but without AWD:

Still doesn't make sense. Mazda 6 sells in small volumes. Would have made more sense to add this engine to CX-5 & 3 first as they sell in much higher volumes (uhm)
Yes but HQ still has input

Ofcourse Mazda HQ have to give the final approval after the Region makes their case for their own market. The regional HQ has to make the request first for something that is already there in other markets. So if AWD is actually available in other markets, you need to hope your regional HQ request and put up a good case for it unless those model variant features are strictly standard for all regions.
Fair points
200-300 monthly sales here of the 6 doesn't bode well for AWD coming here
Unless AWD is standard for the range-topping 2.5T worldwidebut who knows. Australia usually gets decent features in their models. There are actually many differing variants in different markets. For example in Malaysia, they have the CX-5 2.5L in FWD only whereas all CX-5 2.5L in Australia are AWD. Would be interesting to know the performance and fuel consumption specs of the CX-5 2.5L FWD.
Just asked Mazda Australia if the 2.5T would be dropped into the CX-5 and was advised at this time they have no information re any updates to CX-5 engine.
Not having the last word. Just providing my opinion.
I apologise if you see it this way.
As I said before, I am more than happy to be wrong and Mazda release the 2018 Mazda 6 2.5T with AWD.
Have a nice day.
