Where Is Mazda Headed Next?

Mazda should be underpromising/overdelivering versus their record of doing the opposite- maybe this is the start of a new trend:)

Alright. I give up. You always have to have the last word. If I'm wrong I'll happily say so.

Later.

Not having the last word. Just providing my opinion.

I apologise if you see it this way.

As I said before, I am more than happy to be wrong and Mazda release the 2018 Mazda 6 2.5T with AWD.

Have a nice day.

Confirmed but without AWD:

2018 Mazda 6 turbo flagship confirmed for Los Angeles motor show

Still doesn't make sense. Mazda 6 sells in small volumes. Would have made more sense to add this engine to CX-5 & 3 first as they sell in much higher volumes (uhm)
There's plenty of demand for CX-5 as it is. They're trying to make 6 more attractive in order to sell more to meet CAFE requirements and even out production. As for 2.5T in CX-3, that just too weird for words!

Yes but HQ still has input

Ofcourse Mazda HQ have to give the final approval after the Region makes their case for their own market. The regional HQ has to make the request first for something that is already there in other markets. So if AWD is actually available in other markets, you need to hope your regional HQ request and put up a good case for it unless those model variant features are strictly standard for all regions.

You want weird, get them to drop it in the Mazda 2! (lol)

Fair points :)

200-300 monthly sales here of the 6 doesn't bode well for AWD coming here

Unless AWD is standard for the range-topping 2.5T worldwide :) but who knows. Australia usually gets decent features in their models. There are actually many differing variants in different markets. For example in Malaysia, they have the CX-5 2.5L in FWD only whereas all CX-5 2.5L in Australia are AWD. Would be interesting to know the performance and fuel consumption specs of the CX-5 2.5L FWD.

Agreed with your points and yes would be nice to know for comparisons sake

Just asked Mazda Australia if the 2.5T would be dropped into the CX-5 and was advised at this time they have no information re any updates to CX-5 engine.

The CX-5 caters to a different set of buyers hence which is why the 2L engine is offered in that car as the base engine.

The Mazda 6 base engine in North America is the 2.5, and it will be getting the 2.5T as it’s upgraded motor for 2018. Different type of buyers wanting more Power.

But in all honesty, the CX-5 needs the added turbo grunt more so then the adeuqately powered Mazda 6.

Sorry bro. Been sick since Monday, and I drove 700 miles home the first day of it. Didn't mean to get testy. My brain is a bit fried.
