Lowering Seat

Looking to buy a 2016 CX-5
OK, so I'm wanting a CX 5.

There's only one problem. No matter how much I adjust the seat, I sit up too high.

This has always been a problem for me, that's gotten worse as I've gotten older. I'm 6'5" and weigh 285. I never thought about this till recently, but as I've gotten older and fatter, one of the (many) areas of me that is bigger is my ass, so I sit higher up in the seat than I did when I weighed 175.

I solved this problem with my '70 Chevelle by swapping to Camaro seat brackets. They dropped the seat 2", and it was great!

I solved it with my '89 Firebird by swapping to Fiero brackets. They dropped the seat an inch, or so, and it was much improved.

I solved it with my '96 Jeep Cherokee by having the seat brackets cut and welded back together, then pounding the bejesus out of the hump in the driver's-side floorboard for the transfer case with a big freakin' hammer. I got nearly 3" drop, and it is awesome!

Is there a solution for the CX 5?

I am 6'6.5" tall and no dramas height wise in the CX5.

I do have the version with the electric adjustable drivers seat. I set it all the way down and all the way back. Does the job, plenty of head room.

Thanks for the response. I tried both the power and the manual seat. Neiter worked for me. Need to drop it.

I think you would be the first to do so on this board at least. Sorry we can't be more helpful.

Yep, given the car is brand new and given all the tech involved with seats today versus the much simpler swaps you've mentioned from the past, I can't really see this being a plausible fix.

Shortest thread ever. Nobody bring up CR-V please.

Interesting. A co-worker's husband is 6' 5". She asked about my CX5 a bit. Said her husband couldn't fit into the CRV, but could fit into the CX5. He does have however, a pretty small butt.

I think he is asking for a CX-5 Sport trim that has all manual adjustment. You can replace it with other aftermarket seats with manual adjustment. It will look out of place unless you do the front two in matching colors but its doable.
Now memory / power seats are a different beast.

Does anyone have photos of the driver's-side floorboard with seats out of the car, and the driver's seat out of the car?
