Maybe I spoke to soon. I think I spun a bearing. Gonna have to get a tow to the dealer, knocks real bad. Might have something to do with the tensioner being replaced 2 wks ago.
I agree. I also noticed lots of plastic and rubber parts from German vehicles are subject to degrade at certain point but the same plastic and rubber parts would keep up very well from Japanese vehicles. I heard one theory that Germen use degradable plastic and rubber for environmental reason, hence the life cycle for these parts is shorter.

I consistently drive newer minivans, mostly Chrysler products and transmission are far from smooth. Worse if you engage Eco mode as upshifts are harsh as f.
My last Toyota also had incredible amounts of NVH at idle for a 2014 vehicle.
I think it's a rod or bearing issue. The sound changed when I pulled the 2nd right ignition coil plug. But it may have something to do with the new tensioner/belt or installation as the oil pump sprocket is spun by the crank pulley I believe. If the oil p dropped at a bad time that could cause this type of issue. Or there might be some other underlying issue related to the tensioner failure. I'm about to take it to the dealer
Maybe raising the rev limit with the tune wasn't such a grand idea afterall...
I hope thay isn't the case, though. Thay would suck.
+1Can you start a new thread on this issue?
Actually looks like the oil pump failed.
The only drama is being created by you. With the Mazda axle oil, It's called PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE. Look it up.
Losing engine power while doing 70MPH on the highway with semis all around and climbing a 6% mountain grade is deadly.
Preventative maintenance is done by following a schedule. You insisted that changing the axle oil way before the recommended interval was the only way to prevent a bill for $2000 for a new axle. Now you've thrown a hypothetical situation of a 6% mountain grade and surrounded by deadly trucks into the mix. Actually, if my car lost power on a highway I'd just pull over and dodge those pesky man eating trucks.
Actually looks like the oil pump failed. Also, it was only like 300rpm, I highly doubt that had anything to do with it. After I turned it off at the dealer it wouldn't start, and it finnaly threw a code, which was pending not even stored. Oil pressure was very low with no leaks. Oil pressure problem, and tensioner issue, resulting in a replacement pulley and belt seems interelated. Might have been an issue on the tensioner reinstall
That sucks. My HEMI was invisible when it switched between 4 and 8 cylinders. My passengers never knew, and I couldn't tell without the dash light 90% of the time. Seamless and flawless!
Engines are good as always, drove a Hemi 300C a couple years ago and it was great. Transmissions in the other hand, those in Caravan and T&C are awful.
