Why no window "open-all" / "close-all" feature?

Here is schematic... only driver's window has hall effect switches for rotational direction detection

VAG-COM... haven't heard it for a while and we have a 2001.5 VW Passat. :)

VAG-COM is in every VW product they roll out. It stands for Volkwagen Automotive Group communication. We own an Audi A4 as well and because of VAG-COM I have yet to buy a OBDII reader. Many of them don't work with VAG-COM or have very limited access. It seems most makes are now going to their own proprietary software that needs a specific program to access. VW has VAG-COM Mazda has MMI

A DC motor will draw current in proportion to it's load. It is very easy to sense this current, and when it spikes shut off the power. In other words, a automatic closer would not need position sensors.

I agree... that is what I was getting at with something to sense electrical load as well... that being said the schematic shows a fairly basic system outside of the drivers door.

I didn't say it couldn't be done without some aftermarket help :-)
Not arguing, just offering information for anyone that wants it.
I wish the car had auto windows and sun roof close and a power tailgate, but not enough to pull things apart and add them.

Sorry.. read that wrong

I'd probably consider some of those once the bumper-to-bumper warranty is up. I know I will swap out the head unit some day.

I would have to disagree on that... mechanical limit switch or voltage load controller of some type needs to be on the power window motor to sense when limits are reached.

My comment was directed at the cost to Mazda implementing it as an OEM feature, not an aftermarket mod. The OEM could specify appropriate hardware with the limit sensors included in the window motors so there shouldn't have to be additional hardware. Or wiring, if I understand CAN bus correctly.

You would only need to generate a pulse on the system I've got - all 4 windows factory fitted with auto up and down. But where do you stop? There will be features on a CX-5 that you don't get on a notoriously unreliable and expensive VW, BMW or Audi. Personally, I couldn't give a jot about this remote window feature. I can sort the windows out when I'm in it. No Mazdas in the UK get drive away locking when all the US models do. I'd very much like to have it but there will be some reason for it but big deal - I'll just have to keep doing it by hand until the Chinese come up with a plug in module.

I found out that too when I checked out a Euro version Audi. The owner's manual says by not auto-locking when you drive away is supposed to be safer than locking the door during the accident. Different regions have different thinking even on safety issue. Our BMW 528i can be set either way, but have to be programmed by dealer. Mazda is simply not to give owners any alternatives, like many other features.

Or they copy from someone else

I know I can enable some customizations in my CX-5, '3-blink touch' lane-change feature is one, and there are other features the dealer can reprogram such as running lights on or off. I wonder if drive-away door locking can be enabled/disabled in the same fashion?

A remote window up/down feature is really a small blessing: it's nice to lower windows from the office, letting the interior cool some before the drive home on hot days or to roll them up without leaving the house when an unexpected rain blows through. I would like very much if it could be enabled.

Didn't someone on here post a while back that rolling down all 4 windows at the same time is too much load on the fuse or something?

I would spend $30 or so on a OBD plug that would let me auto roll down all 4 windows before walking out to the car on hot days.

Drive away locking can be enabled/disabled in the settings menu but only if your car has it. Mine doesn't.

Auto Windows feature cannot be enabled on any current CX-5 without an additional device of some sort.

I'm more annoyed the sunroof won't auto close. Every car since the late 90s for me has done it. I can't seem to get used to holding it I just keep pressing it and the. Wondering later while it's still open.

I am selling the auto roll up all window module, anyone want it? Installation is very easy, just remove your driver side door panel and rest is plug and play.
