Hi,
Firstly I'd like to thank the forum members for all the information you have posted. We were looking for a second SUV/Crossover in the used car market and after reading many of the posts on this forum, including several covering potential transfer case issues, we ended up with a CX-9. While we were not looking specifically at Mazdas we used CarGurus to find SUVs that met our criteria (cost, age, miles) and were aggressively priced. This gave us a short list of a Chevrolet Equinox and the Mazda CX-9.
A local non-Mazda dealer had a 2011 CX-9 AWD GT on their lot for the last 4 months. Originally listed at $21.5k it has slowly dropped in price and we managed to pick it up for $15.5k and a tank of gas as they wanted it sold before the end of the year. The car has had one owner, carfax is clean and the transfer case looks fine.
The only issue I've found (so far) was having to super glue the 'clip' of the Air Inlet Duct Cover since it had partially broken off. 5 minutes and a bit of glue and it works fine.
Overall very pleased with our new runabout.
