what were you driving?....and holy crap slalom that was huge in the middle of the course

That slalom-around-a-corner-with-an-offset was pretty nuts. It's my co-driver's G-Stock Civic Si on really, REALLY dead Hoosier A6s. I can deal with wet, and I can deal with cold, but cold and wet is just miserable, so we decided to stay warm and dry in a car with a roof and heat since he has one sitting around. Later once it warms up, we'll very likely run rain or shine. This weekend was just too cold to be out in a car with zero protection.

Dat understeer...

That course looks like it was fun!

Dude, who're you tellin? Yeah, it was bad. You could trail brake it if you carried a butt-ton of speed and then chucked it in and dabbed on the brakes with the rear unloaded, but it was a point & shoot course and due to it being wet it was hard to build up any speed. It was ugly, but it was fun :)

Hehe, just sayin' understeer must be really bad when one can see it in a video (2thumbs)

I fixed my understeer problem (boom07)

My fastest run (45.437):

My co-driver's fastest (45.715)

And then something amazing happened: My wife's parents were in town, so she was able to run the car. Her first time in the car, her 2nd autocross in about a 3 year span, her first time in my car in its current configuration, and her first time on true slicks. So I present to you, Jen's fastest run (53.052):

She was running DPL, but she would have won DP open by about 3 seconds (boom07). Peter and I run in our region's Pro class so we have some (a lot...) competition

Helped my old Formula SAE team at a test day yesterday. I didn't have much time to take any pictures, but I did snap one of the front right suspension setup.

Unfortunately the car was having some throttle control issues, but it handled very nicely. Nothing quite like a 475lb car being pushed by a GSXR600 engine rolling on Hoosier R25B tires @ 9psi.

I'll see if someone else posts some pictures in the next few days...

In related news: using a tire pyrometer is goddamn magic. I have no idea how I thought I was doing suspension tuning before I used one.

A probe style tire pyrometer is on my very short list of items to buy. :) Cool suspension setup too.

Because doing Pike's Peak in <10 minutes in a car with a roll cage, 1000 HP, AWD and wings the size of my house wasn't crazy enough.

I dont know how he made it up there that fast with the added weight of his gigantic balls of steel.

My co-driver had a mishap on his first run. The fun starts at 30 seconds. Watch the hands :-P

In going off course, he apparently picked up some glass that caused the tire to go down on MY first run. You can see it every time I take a tight left had turn, the back end (with 9" slicks... there should be PLENTY of grip) steps out. I attributed it to cold tires, and didn't really put 2 and 2 together until I got back to grid and my co-driver checked the tire pressures and goes "Uh... why's this tire at 10 PSI?" "No idea, but that explains why it was so tail happy." I put some air in and immediately hear it start hissing more loudly. Oops. Kind of a throw-away weekend :-/

So what was the culprit? Was the wheel just not latched seated properly in the QR?

What QR do you use?

User error. It's a standard 3/4 or 5/8" (don't remember which off hand) QR that's actually pretty rock solid. He just didn't check that it was seated fully before setting off.
