The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I have 2 build threads that are not anything close to true builds. I used build for lack of a better word as most people seem to do. Come to think of it I should just delete them since there is nothing happening or going to be happening to either of the cars anyway.

What are you talking about? You've got a sweet MS3 spoiler to install on Jenn's 3....full custom!

Corey, your build thread is totally acceptable. You've modified and fabricated a ton of parts. Just because it's slow doesn't mean you should kill it off. If that were the case mine should have been dead months ago. Lulz.

Jess, your build thread is never updated so it doesn't count. ;)

Larry, your threads are fine. Pretty much all of the Ohio crew subs to all the other Ohio crews threads so we can help out when there is an issue, problem or looking for advice. So it's all gravy. :)

I'll shut up now. Just booked a hotel for a couple nights in VA with my GF in December to attend my sisters graduation from the Police academy. Pretty excited to be on a "vacation". I haven't been on one in about 10 years. I don't count touring with my old band, that was more like work not to kill those guys. Haha

Speaking of "Builds", the 6 project is on full stop. I put it in storage last week. I ran out of money, which is sad. I also ran out of time, which is why it is in storage.

Ever since it got cold out my, boost gauge is stuck at -30inhg, oil pressure gauge is stuck at 110psi, and oil temp at 300. Any ideas? All connections are good. The boost gauge will work every once in a while if im in the sun. I know the prosport gauges have been troublesome in the past

That doesn't sound right, almost like something grounded that shouldn't.

It's strange. If i turn the car off amd leave the key in the on position the oil temp gauge will show the correct twmperature and the boost gauge will go to zero. Oil pressure stays stuck at 110

^weird, but sounds like a ground issue. is the oil electrical or pressured?

I didn't have a good experience for Prosport gauges, I'd rather pay the extra money for an AEM or Autometer. As for your problem, it sounds like ground, connection, sensor or gauge issue. Who wired them up, and how did you check the connections?

To rule out the cold, try turning your heat on for a while and make sure the inside if cozy for at least 10 minutes, sometimes cold temps will make circuits act funny. If you see no changes, then I'd almost rule out issues with the actual gauges. I wouldn't rule that out completely as I had to send back 2 of the 3 I had, quality control doesn't seem very good.

I would check grounds and all connections, you might be having issues with sensors if they're electrical gauges.

I have had prosport gauges for years and never had an issue. I even verified their accuracy with mechanical gauges.

Previous owner installed them. I did an oil change yesterday and pulled the oil sensors while i had the filter off to check (they are tapped into the spin on filter conversion. Everything looked good. All connections tight, no exposed wiring or anything. As far as the boost gauge, inside the car temp has no effect. However if its above 50 outside it usually works. Theres a little electrical unit for it mounted up near my BPV.

How hard is to pull the center dash out and check the grounds? They're probably all wired together and the ground bolt might be corroded or loose. Like the other guys says, sounds electrical. Still a sweet signature pic though.

Not sure, going to have to look into the process of getting that gauge pod cover off and see how the wiring was done. Thanks, my buddy had his dslr with him one day and shot that while we were heading to columbus

Pulling it out is not hard (TWSS), figuring out someone else's wiring is another thing. Hell, is it wasn't for my push start button chippy would have bought my Speed3.

I would check all the wiring, use a tester if you have one. If that looks good, then I'd look into the sensors next.

Yeah, i just took apart the top of the dash and the wiring is running down in between the glovebox.
Now to figure out where it goes and where the ground is

Question for all the tire experts on here....hehe

How much air pressure loss is acceptable? A few of my tires have needed filled up every other week or so, they get down to 22-25 psi. I guess it started when it got cold out, but I'm also worried that these tires are aging out. They still have half the tread left, and aren't wearing improperly, but they're over 4 years old and you can certainly tell their age when you look at them.
