What have you done to your P5 today?

Thanks! I think I'm still hearing slight clunking in the suspension. Can't pinpoint where or when it happens.

Its in the rear, this is why I switched to coilovers. If you re-used your tophats, itll get worse. What it is is that theres play beteeen the notched washer and the top hat. Most aftermarket springs arent as tall as the piston(rod) in the strut which will be about 5mm or so. Fix it now before the tophats get reemed out. I would recommend new top hats, and get at least 8 flat washers (12 or 14mm), dont remember exactly, someone correct me. 3-4 will.need to be stacked above the notched washer under the hex.bolt. Also, i,d replace the notched curved washersIbefore they strip. had pics of it on my old computer, id show you if I could. Be sure to use an impact wrench to re-install everything. I learned the hard way, thought id help someone else. PM me if u have questions, i can explain better. Im typing on a nook rightnow, excuse the lazy typing. It's quite annoying.

@ MP5stephen - think I reolved the issue. Re-tightened all of the endlinks to spec and the center nut on the two front struts after using a couple washers on each side. Drove around tonight and couldn't hear the clunking. So far so good...but the previous owner definitely marred up some threads on the nuts and center shaft.

Battery in the rear passenger seat.

I feel so bad that I haven't been able to touch my P5 other than for gas. She needs a wash and wax before the snow flies, tires, and an oil change before Christmas. No money for the latter two and no time to wash before it's too cold to do so. Crunch time!

I take it you dont have the spare tire sub? I have that and an aftermarket hi, that hits well enough for my taste as of now :) I've got a 5 channel amp waiting to be hooked up though... :S

Nope, my P5 doesn't even have the wiring to support that sub! It was one of the first '02s (it was built in late 2001), I don't think that became an option until the '03 models.

I figured if I'm going to have to run my own wiring, I'll just buy a small setup that I can then transfer to my next car. Like you, I don't need teeth-rattling bass, I just want a little more oomph on the low-end ;)

Dang! I got lucky ;) but my tweeters dont work... That's another thing I guess the 03s got :) and, well, the teeth rattling bass bit, well, yeah, I was planning on eventually kinda sorta doing a clean spare tire mounted sub sorta like what Circuit has done... :) but that's after I fix the motor. New pistons and an egr pipe on the way!!! :D

The 2003.5 P5's came with the spare tire sub.

Have you taken off the door panel to see if they're plugged in? If the previous owner installed aftermarket two-way or three-way speakers, they may have simply unplugged the tweeters. I know I did.

went to O'Reilys to pick up some Tribute front endlinks and they wanted $20 per endlink... then I went to autozone and picked the some ones up for $10 a piece lol

Haven't taken the panels off yet. Ill probably do it when I get the motor back together. Hopefully within the next week. :) I'll get a good look at the speakers too. Not sure if they're oem or upgraded!

Yup, no tweeters for '02 owners either, but it's ok, I just crank the treble. Can you tell I'm not an audiophile? :P

02.5's first got them

I dont think mine currently work- if that's any consolation? :)

Im just waiting on pistons and an egr pipe and ill be reassembling her! So pumped to do so! And I have to update my "build" thread too...

Luckily the PS mount is bolted to something a little more solid than the bad fender support. If Mr. Evan can't get you some used ones I'd recommend getting OEM replacements. I've tried the beck/arnley PS and front mounts, they're crap. The PS mount fits kinda crooked (the engine-side flange is visibly different from the OEM design) and most importantly, they're soft as hell.

It's not too bad, even I did all 3 but the rear...still need to deal with that!

Thanks guys and still shopping around. No word back from Evan yet. :p haha Got a price from OMP for the OEM mounts...about $150, so not too bad. Have been thinking about upgrading to the AWR mounts/inserts but thinking if I do that for these two than I might as well do the other two at the same time....if not they'll be ripping soon due to age and being softer.

Rad and t-stat are still sitting in the garage and still shopping around for a PS pump as well. In the meantime I saw the thread from Jeff@ProParts for the TB kit for our cars....$229 and change for everything needed!!! Still a wee bit nervous on tackling that job myself but for the price of the kit thinking I should just get over my fears and do it at the same time I'll have the coolant drained and swapping out the PS pump. Plus for approx. $500 out of pocket I can get the tb, wp, ps pump and mounts in hand vs. the quote of ~$1500 I got a few months ago to install just the tb, wp and ps pump!
