Laps for Tina Charity Autocross ~ Saturday, June 16, 2012 @ Geauga Lake (NORA event)

It does look really cool. And Will's Speed3 looked good. I'm a little bummed I didn't get to see any of you guys run since we were all in the same group. Riding along with Marc was freaking super fun though. And Corey's lap was fun and quick even with Peaches and I in the car. haha

Next one is July 1st. Who else is going?

I would say you're in stock, don't think the smart has that much of an advantage, unless you sign up as rookie and figure it out later with them

Thanks Evan, it was cool seeing you guys run as well. I'll be out of town for the July 1st event but I'm in for the event on the 15th.

Where can I find what class my car is in? (not the 2)

HS I'd say.

That was a hoot. I'm certainly sticking to street tires for a while though. And I nailed 2 cones on my first two runs. I needed to slow down and not push so hard then my times were faster. Still a blast though! And congrats to Evan #2 for kicking so much ass on track! You're a natural, man.

Thanks #1!! I could definitely tell that the HPDEs I've done helped a lot. I was confident and the car hauled ass!!! I was really impressed with the car, it just needed a little more rotation in the rear. Next time I'll be setting my rear sway to the stiffest setting for some tripod action!! LOL

It's too bad I couldn't watch you guys since I was in the same group. It was definitely a lot of fun! I'll be doing more of these for sure!

Did you see that cat in the black 2010 Mazda3? He was flooring it through the slaloms and cooking his tires. Every pass he did that. I mean, I'm terrible but I'm not as bad as him. haha

Ya I couldn't believe how badly he was cooking those tires. I was working corner 1 and he actually was spinning them through the slalom! Car looked good though

DAMN (sort of)!!!! I can't go to this one...I'm doing the HPDE at Mid-Ohio that weekend. I'll be at the next one after that though!

Riding with Marc and Corey was a blast. I'm glad I did it because it really helped me learn the course before I ran.

It was a really fun time. I wish that I wasn't working while you guys were driving so I could jump in and ride along with you guys.

I know I need a lot of work. I think I might set up some slalom cones in an empty parking lot to practice with. Until the cops show up, of course.

I still had a blast even though the MSP broke. I think what happened was on the back part of the course the oil that was left in the car was swung to the outer wall which is not on the pickup side and was running dry at 6k for the long back swing to the left, because after that I noticed the car lost power after the tight curve left and it had no get up in the last straight or the last slolum. I'm hoping I don't have to take it all out again, but I'll find that out in week or 2.

Jess, I pretty sure the SMART would be in HS (H Stock) with the 2. It is the lowest class for any car, but will probably get killed by the 3 or Mini. Either way it is still a blast and I'm sure if you can find some minor suspension parts and some good tires for it the car would turn like a go-kart. I'll probably be racing the 2 at the next couple events. I need to find some Miata wheels so I can put my Hankook's :)

The same principals in HPDE apply to auto-x looking ahead and seeing where you need to go Remember this oxymoron: to go fast you must go slow! Also, on slaloms, figuring out the correct enter (right or left can cost you time as well), will set you up for the next section. while you are walking rhe course make notes, look for little things that will help you, maybe a crakc in the pavement where you should turn, exit or brake. On the slaloms, you shoule be turning before you even see the cone. Also, with FWD, you need the car to rotate more, so increase the pressure in the rear tires, it will loosen the car up and it will rotate more, you can always lower the pressures if you feel it is too loose for you. You should always make notes of your setting for the following: air pressures, coilover settings and your alignment settings too. Lastly, try and get video of your runs and see how you position the car throughout the course, it does help if you can see where you are or where you should be and look how other cars that have similiar set ups run as well.

I'm getting a huge rear bar for the MS3 that should help it rotate too :)

Did anyone take any video of the course?

That was my thought but wasn't sure. You'd be surprised, it doesn't want to push the front much at all. Guess it helps having the engine in the back, lol. I was looking for a set of rear wheels to put on the front (inch wider). But other than that or a set of 17s, it will probably stay stock.

The Smart car my not be classified because it may rollover to easily. The Fiat 500 is also not classified for the same reason.
