What have you done to your P5 today?

Thanks Larry, those were my old Tribute wheels. I know what you mean too about the OEM Mazda 17's, they alwasy seem to be so heavy. What about the 17" MX-5 wheels? I know a few Protege owners have run them but don't think I've ever seen a weight number for them. The 16" are just under 16lbs and a .5" smaller in width so maybe.... Oh yeah, great find on that brake upgrade!

Shae....I see Rockin's $5 and raise a $3.82 ;) I'll then sell the car to Evan for your agreed price minus the RC hood. (evil)

Hmmmm....going to say it would work but are you willing to live with the stretch? I'm running 185's right now but on a 5.5" wheel. :)

well... being as i was looking at some classic muscle for a 3rd car... i dont really need a p5. yours is just a nice example... and being in the south, it is probably rust free.

I have neither classic, or muscle but I do have a Camaro with alot of rust I'm going to sell

and yes the cars are bigger because people are bigger and for saftey equipment. Look at the evolution of the Honda Civic, It started out smaller than the Fit.

I would prefer something like 205 on a 7 inch wheel but a 185 is 7.3" wide

That is my neighbor's '08 Civic Si. The stock curb weight of that 2-door sports car is 2,800lbs. My '02 5-door, grocery-gettin', non-sporty, wagon has a stock curb weight of 2,700lbs.

I'm that kid with braces in middle school right now. "It'sh not funny, turdsh!". haha

Evan, please post the name of the company that will be shipping the P5 so that I can make plans to hijack it and get the hood. I am still pissed that I backed out on our deal to buy yours! There is an outside chance I can still get it, sadly way outside. Jen is not overly happy (not b****y mind you) with the money I am spending on my P5.

Type-R stickers are pretty heavy...

I hate the biggie-sizing of modern cars too, just imagine how fun and fuel efficient a 90ies civic hatch would be with a modern drivetrain. We've made all these improvements in fuel economy and performance but it's all for nothing because cars keep getting bigger and heavier :(

Agreed. I met a man who has a '88 civic that gets 45 mpg. My friend drives an '87 Toyota manual 4-speed that gets 42mpg. Also met a guy a few months who has an old Mazda 323 and changed some stuff like injectors to make it run lean vs rich and gets in the 40's also

very true, i wonder what mpg's could be had with the skyactive 2.0 in a p5. The extra 25 hp wouldn't hurt either

14:1 compression, but that doesn't mean an end to the speeds yet...

I assume all the skyactive engines are high compression and will put an end to turbo mazdaspeeds

Why is that?

14:1 compression, but that doesn't mean an end to the speeds yet...

Mazdaspeeds have their own niche market. MS3's sell too well to can them.. hence the reason they broke away from the other Mazdaspeed tradition and have made them longer than two model year runs.

I thought skyactive had broken the world record for highest compression ratio. Forgive me for I haven't researched skyactive that much. I assumed high compression engine means no turbo. Mazdaspeed = turbo + spoiler. Figured there wasn't much good in that
