exhaust!

Theres 2 Cats on the 2, one monitored by ECU and one that isnt, i think its the one closest to the front of the car thats unmonitored and can be removed, im thinking of doing this also but here in the UK it would probably fails its emissions test on its yearly MOT lol

interesting. well ill talk to the local exhaust shop and see what i can get done. texas is REALLY lenient towards cars and modifications.

The cat closest to the front of the car looked like it was integrated into the exhaust manifold. And I don't think the 2nd cat had an o2 in it.

this is true, i meant one cloest to back of the car after further reading of other forums lol, but its definately one of the 2 that is not monitored by the ECU, i think a guy called VDS racing from these forums, his car named panda style, he done a few mods on his exhaust, ask him, he will know for sure :D

thats what the header on (some japanese site) had, the cat integrated. k well ill take all this into consideration :P some guy said he got this done to his speed6 and it was under 50 bux at a local exhaust shop.

trust me, both the sensors are read by the ecu in the 2. The front in fact is not a wide band sensor, it is a wide ratio sensor that is something like 100 times quicker than the older wide band O2. The rear sensor is a wide band digital, and it is there to monitor the cat efficency

then res delete it is.

The second cat sits in front of the resonator and is the un-monitored one.

o man lol now its unmonitored?

now to be asking again but does anyone know for sure if its monitored or not?

i guess ill just have the shop check and have them see.

but CS has never let me down :P

i thought 1 was unmonitored because a guy over in the uk MZ2 forums has taken one away and just put a straight through pipe on, no back box, his is the 1.4 diesal though heres the link

in there theres few ideas that other guys have used and are currently still using as far as im aware hope this helps :)

interesting he took off the 2nd cat a replaced it with a glasspack instead of a normal straight pipe. thats interesting but i guess GP's are basically resonators/straight mufflers.

ty ill have to read into it!

I'd be interested to hear that car! The glasspack should just make it slightly less raspy (is a diesel even raspy though??) but wouldn't change the decibel amount much, just a tone change. But in my experience the cats make an even bigger impact in tone than a glasspack. Every N/A car I've ever decatted sounded horrible afterwards.

Here is a picture with the second cat and resonator.

The first cat is monitored, there is an O2 sensor before and after it. The second one has nothing as you can see in the pictures.

im assuming bcuz the contents of the cats muffle it alottttt. whats the gain of removing the cat? some forums say a few HP?

this is why i love CS. they always are there to help. im assuming non american models are doubled monitored but yeah i dont see anything so i think ill now talk to the shop. =]

lol well we have had this carin the UK since 2007 so modification wise we can help a bit more sine you guys over in the US of A have only had it for this year i think?

Random post, but I'm pretty happy with my Racing Beat exhaust. Really well made. Fits great. It's a touch quieter than the SVT Focus I had, but SVT Focuses are really loud stock. I'm pretty happy with it. No drone, no buzzing, just sounds like an OEM upgrade.

Back in summer i changed my catback exhaust setup.

Removed the middle box and fitted a custom made Φ50mm(2") piping with curves made with cnc and custom made end muffler with Φ50mm also.

And a video:

so you still have the stock back box just changed the tip and piping going into the back box? and whats CNC? im thinking of seeing a local garage to remove the cat from the piping and changing the piping to 2" also, you have 2" all the way through or does it start a little after the header and down pipe?
