A/C fan suddenly very noisy (buzzing); anyone have the same problem or can identify?

Hi folks.

Looking for a diagnosis or wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

This started just yesterday. I turned on the A/C (or heater) and on the higher settings and the fan started making a loud buzzing sound (the higher the setting he louder). It almost sounds as if the fan blades are hitting something.

Initially, it seemed as if the A/C wasn't cooling but that seemed to fix itself.

The problem has not gone away.

Car has about 55,000 miles.

Hi,
Just wanted you all to know that I implemented flcruising's repair as shown in this thread. No mouse but a fair amount of nesting materials. I'm happy to say that it fixed the problem! I also followed the plastic mesh suggestion. Thanks again for the help.

What's up with Mazdas and animals and insects..The Mazda 6 was recalled for spiders in the fuel vent earlier this year..

It's been like 3/4 of a year since I did that and something just dawned on me. I titled it "...blower wheel (squirrel cage)", but I think a more appropriate title might be something like "blower wheel (mouse cage)"!
