The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I think it all started with the whole firestone tires on the ford explorers failing. We have them on just about every Cadillac here in the shop. They are kinda pricey though.

it would be more helpful if it told you which wheel was low. having to look for a tire that is at 27.5psi is annoying sometimes. (every time the light went off, one tire was at 27.5 and the others at 29-30) i know more expensive cars do though... but im not made of money.

other brands give your pressure for each tire, mazda only has the 1 warning light

My mom's vette tells you which tire, but her monte carlo on says low tire pressure

I'm trying to talk myself into getting coil-over sleeves for the protege. any recommendations?

Coilover sleeves kinda suck. If that's the style you're talking about. Not the coilovers, but the sleeves. I had them on one of my Civics and the ride quality was terrible. Are you still on stock suspension? I would reccomend just some quality springs/struts.

Honestly, I would invest in better tires first. Aren't you on all seasons?

ps- I love having a Protege. My car is so easy to work on. Well, when it's not rusted. I had an airbag light when I snagged Phens leather seats (and now the Recaros). I just pulled the bulb. :)

Wait till you see how easy the suspension swap in the MSM is going to be...

Right now I'm on tokico blues and springs. I'm on my 2nd set of bridgestone potenza g009's. I'll prolly need a new set of tires this summer sometime.

Phen and I were just talking about how ideal the Tokico/Tein combo is for the Protege. Why are you thinking of changing up, mate? Wanting to go lower? Stiffer compression rates or something?

I would say buy some good summer tires and buy some winter wheels/tires. Phen has a set of P5 wheels he'll sell ya. ;) And you've already got all those suspension bars so your Protege should handle really pretty well already. Just gotta upgrade what's making contact with the road.

I'm trying to make the rear sit a tad bit higher. I still have rubbing issues in the rear. I still need to get those wheels from phen one of these days. I can't find a halfway decent tire to replace those potenza's. But, yeah...the little blue Japanese car handles like it's on a rail with all the suspension braces.

Have you rolled your rear fenders? And hell yes the little blue Japanese car DOES handle well.

Nope, fenders have not been rolled. I guess that could be an idea to try. I don't have a fender roller though. I'll have ya give it a drive the next time I'm up there and you can tell me what ya think.

Well shoot, son. Gotta roll the fenders. heh-heh. I rubbed pretty badly in the back too until I rolled the rear fenders. Never had a problem since. I'm sure you can find a local shop that will do it, or you can rent one online for ~$50 and do it yourself. Or even better have Evan #2 roll them for you. He is the fender rolling master. Haha

We'll just have to have another fender rolling party one day. I gotta get my butt back up to see you guys again.

I'm all for install parties at the house, especially since Phen is home again. We'll see you in the summer for sure, no worries. /end thread jack
