The Moderately Low (Not Slammed) and Functional Thread

225-series on a 9" wheel isn't a stretch?! I'm running a 225-series on a 8" wheel and I think I'm slightly stretching it. Hell, I plan on running a 245-series tire on a 8" wheel!

225 on an 8 is not a stretch.

225 on a 9 isn't much either.

Here are the wheels I was thinking of getting. 15x9's with 225's. They don't look stretched very much. I think it is a good fitment for an aggressive looking Miata.

Could just be the angle of the photo. The spokes have some meat to them, but lightweight was the goal with them. 12.7lbs for a 15x9. Not too shabby.

Dang, copier, I wanted some 6UL's for my future Miata..

Will those 225's be able to grip the ground with all of the powa going through them?

Haha. Not that much power... But yeah, some nice sticky rubber would do well.

Given your position on the wheel/tire fitment issue, I'm going to hold this comment as skewed...

I'm guessing the wheel diameter has some affect on suggested tire width. I'm just speaking from personal experience but the majority of the 225/50R16 tires seem to recommend being mounted on 7" wheels (4/5 extreme performance summer tires) and 245/45R16 recommend 8" wheels. However, going up to 17" wheels 225/45R17 recommends a 7.5" wheel and 245/40R17 recommends a 8.5" wheel. This is general trend I have seen.

lol another miata with 949's, not hatin, there nice rims and all
but ive seen them on a ton of miata's

Yeah, I hear ya on that. I know what you mean. But, one thing you should know about me is that I could give 2 s**** what anyone thinks about my car. As long as I like it, I'm happy. I agree with you, a lot of Miatas have them... one reason it's so hard to find them... but I would be using them for Auto-X and track events so a light weight, wider and smaller diameter wheel which has a variety of tire size options (especially in R-comps) is a win-win for me.

yea, i was actually lookin at those for my car, but they didnt have the offset i wanted, +48 was the lowest, and on a 9", thats not even close to fitting lol

be sure to post pics, they should look awesome in bronze...dont think ive seen that color before

Word. I know they're definitely not the wheel for you guys. I think there was a pic of a red car with bronzes on it. I'll have to check. If I do get them, it won't be until I get back from China. And then, I have to make a choice... wheels or suspension.
