The Moderately Low (Not Slammed) and Functional Thread

8" is the rim width, +25 is the offset. Its 25mm away from the center line going away from the car. Adding a spacer will reduce the offset number and push the rims out further.

um, no....if you add a 25mm spacer to a +25 will be the same as having a wheel that is +50 offset...unless im just screwing up the terminology :p

Adding a 25mm spacer would push the center of the wheel out 25mm farther from the hub. Thus reducing the effective offset by 25mm. A wheel with +25 offset and a 25mm spacer would have an effective offset of 0. (thumb)

i dont even know what the number on my tire mean either.... all i know it the last number (ex: ???/?? R15) is rim size

sorry i added to my post after you commented i think
this is what i added
Edit: better example

That +25 is just the offset of the wheel. Nothing to do with the tires.

lol yeah, i had that backwards...i b retarded

All good. :)

i thought offset was only for the rims... didnt know it had to do with the entire set up

Offset is just for the wheels. But there are numerous factors that go into fitting wheels.

example: 225/45R17

225 is the wheel width
45 is the sidewall height
17 is the wheel diameter

It is not cut and dry measurements, tho. The tire width and sidewall height are ratios of each other, so a 215/45/17 will not have the same sidewall height of a 225/45/17. The 215/45/17 will have a shorter sidewall due to the ratio against a smaller width.

Ya, he's definitely a little lower than me. He's tucking a little tire and I think his tires are lower profile than mine, too. Look like 40 series, I run 45.
I see...I like the tuckage but with a 45 series for comfort...you can't always get what you want...

Must be difficult to drive with no suspension! (confused)
Yeah, not really...I just installed this new mod- it's called hovercraft... (naughty)
Once I reach 300 whp the car will actually have the ability to fly!

Sleezer, I hope your sig is photoshopped. Or else you might be in the wrong thread, brotha...

Yes its photo shopped, i asked for a chop in ths PS thread of a mild drop to just clean up the wheel gap, for laughs the guy did this too so I put it in my sig to poke fun at the hellaflush guys

So effectively if you run spacers, its "like" adding negative offset to your wheel?

I guess you can think of it that way. Not really adding any offset to your wheel, but the offset is changed, yes. Although if you want to be specific, you're essentially changing the position of the hub, as opposed to changing the offset of the wheel. Both have the same end result, however.

Seeing as he's on stock suspension, I would venture to guess he's still in the wrong thread, lol. jk Sleezer

To be more correct... it's not exactly sidewall height. It is the height, but the number is an aspect ratio of the width. 45% of the 215mm width.

can i join?
