Help me locate a 2.0 motor for my MSP please.
could anyone help me locate a used motor for my car?
i have been searching for the last week on google, ebay, etc and i am having no luck finding one.
so im comming to the mazda community for help.
i hope you guys can help me find one, so we can get my car back out on the road. im not going to be able to find one without a little help from you guys.
please keep in mind that i am in west virginia.
i really wouldnt want to pay no more than 600 to 800.

my story with the car:
Im 20 years old in college and im not afraid to say i have a LOVE/HATE relationship with my car.
I bought the car in April 2010 for 7,000. It was completey stock with no mods.
I didnt know how to drive the car when I first got it. ran into the car by accident.
The main thing about the car that got my attention was the looks, which im sure most of you all didnt know what the car was when you first seen yours.
I drove the car until November when i hit a deer. It caused 4,000 in front end damage.
I get the car back and in 2 months the motor blows. GREAT!
so i have had the car a while and have basically got to drive it 5 months :(
PLEASE PLEASE (p.s. im begging for some help) help me get her back on the road, so i can enjoy this beautiful car!

thanks a bunch,
chris. (boostfreak)

For the record, most of us bought it because we knew exactly what it was. The ones that bought it new knew less, but the vast majority of us who bought one in the last 5 years knew the weakpoints, and the strong points. If not, we learned them quickly on here.

If I were you I would make a case that the accident caused the engine to fail. if you can find ANYTHING in the engine bay that was damaged, this will confirm your story, in which case you can at least put in a claim to the insurance and try it. If they deny you, no real harm as the incident is already reported.

car-part is pretty idiot proof. You select the make, model, year, part... then it gives you the options.

You can use ANY 2.0l out of several cars, but it should do that crossover for you if you select the non-turbo option. Then you just have to swap parts like the engine girdle over. otherwise you can search for the turbo version, and its a direct swap.

im pretty sure some of the other guys can chime in on this becuase there are some probe motors on there that are like 500 bucks but there from 97 but I herd there block is the same but not sure..

there you go so you either pay money for easy work or pay with time spent converting over the cheaper engine. thanks wagon

easiest swap will be out of an MSP. literally direct.

otherwise you at least have to change out the girdle, and you'll have to swap over any of the parts like the oil cooler that the new one doesn't come with. obviously you'll have to do the accessories too regardless.

We could do a swap with a regular protege 2.0 motor. I just need to find one first.
I just want it fixed asap but were going to do it right.

Yes auto / manual doesn't make a difference. I was given my donor motor from a 2002 Protege 5 so I can rebuild it. Everything is exactly the same except for the Turbo specific parts which can be swapped over. If I were you since it looks like you may be keeping it longer, buy Forged Pistons and Rods. and keep it stock. Less likely to go boom again.

I knew what I was getting into so I chose to go Forged since day one but I am staying stock sizing.

if you treat the car well, you'll be fine. I'm at 104K on the original internals and block. There are guys pushing over 140K, and a couple higher than even that.

i think i found me one, but its scary buying a motor over the internet.
and i treated my car well. motor isnt blew YET but it will if i drive it down the street.
it just has a funny knocking noise, but id rather just get one that i know runs.
