Yeah... The storm is supposed to be within 150 miles of New London.. They are looking at wind speeds of 35-50 kts (1 kt = 1.2 mph)

I feel like there's so much hype in hurricanes... No one really knows where it's going to be in 2 days.. so how can they really predict it to be a certain distance from a certain place with a certain wind speed? I don't know.. I guess after that "huge" snow storm that dropped a whopping 4" on me when Sean got 2' made me seriously doubt predicting major storms.

Hurricanes act differently than normal storm systems. I'm sure Gary can chime in.

I'd rather be prepared for the worst and it not hit, than say it's too much hype and get hit unprepared.

Yes, I have water, candles, food, battery radio, etc.. because I've been through a major hurricane and it's no joke.

I was stationed in Pensacola when Andrew hit and my folks lived in Tallahassee....and had friends that lived in the Miami area. They were later re-located to Pensacola....albeit after losing practically everything they had.

My sister met her husband during Andrew... and his name is Andrew. They lived in the Miami area. Her apartment was barely touched while walls were missing in his.
