The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Yeah, but true red isn't sparkley.

(sadbanana) You had to mention the friggin sparkles man!! haha ya I'm not cool like you but sparkles do attract more attention.

My car also looks like a family car. I am surprised how many people don't know what the MS3 is. Even if they know about it, some people are like, "Does that thing have a turbo???" haha. I like the sleeper effect, but I don't think it applies to cops because they probably know very well how fast it is lol

see i get the other issue... people are constantly thinking i have a speed3 and im like not its just an NA... hahaha

Hahaha, that's true. As long as they don't hear you from a half mile away, you're good. I'm not so lucky.

So... while you guys enjoy the cookout, this is what I get to see every day on the way to work.

haha that would get annyoing. I think I might take off the Mazdaspeed3 emblem so it's a little more sleeper. better yet, I should put a regular Mazda3 emblem on instead!

Damn, doesn't look like they have a passion for car modding there lol

Yellow is as loud as you can get. (lol2) I got a ticket in June, the first one in just under 3 years. Which reminds me, I need to go take one of those defensive driving classes to remove those 2 points so I keep it at 0 for insurance...

it sparkles cause it's a miata

phen, at least there is a lady in a black dress, could be worse. I bet if promise them green cards that might get you somewhere. (usa)

I just got pulled over Thursday for the first time in my MS3 since I got it 4 months ago...I have no clue how I managed to not get pulled over! I had planned on getting a ticket within the first month...I factored that into my budget when buying the car HAHA. The cop said I was going 80 (in a 65) on 77N right as you go around the huge bend at Fairlawn. I got off there to get gas, and he said I was doing 60 (in a 25) on the exit ramp. I had a feeling something was weird because I might have been going 100...and 80 on the exit ramp haha. I just didn't admit to anything at all...HE GAVE ME A WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a feeling he didn't radar or laser me because he was driving a mile or so behind me I think.

You have to be coming towards him for him to use the radar/laser, IIRC. He just made a guess basically (Cops call it "pacing" lol), and knew it wouldn't hold up in court.

Makes sense, I had a feeling he was guessing. I was confused and relieved when he said I was only going 80 (uhm)

Well, that WAS the case. In Ohio they can now ticket you for how fast they THINK you were going (i.e. they don't have to have laser/radar evidence).

In the end it's just best to drive intelligently and keep all the quick stuff for the track.

My sister was an MP and she said the radar/laser works coming at and away from you, so watch your ass too!

And that new law in Ohio says cops can basically say you going as fast as they like, so be careful out there. I'm not preaching or anything because I drive like an asshole. (wiggle)

yeah like magnum said, they can ticket you via guessing your speed and since its now a law saying they can, you lose in court... cause the judge will almost always take cops word over your word...

Fair enough... Although in the end, I would say it's basically always been like this, because as you guys said, the cops word is always taken over the defenders' (us). Unless you wanted to spend $$ on a lawyer, thats the only way the defenders word really means anything, IMO. Money rules the world, haha.

I just follow traffic for the most part. Seems to be the best bet. I'm pretty sure most CPD know my car, so if I was a moron, I would get hounded 24/7.

Which is why I putt around for the most part. That and I get total s*** mileage when I drive like an ass.

Ya same here...I try to keep out of boost as much as possible. Unfortunately, it's easier said than done (cabpatch).
