The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I bought a set pf black Gorilla locking lug nuts from Summit about 2-1/2 years ago and they've held up really well. And I use an impact wrench on my lug nuts and they still look great.

I like pretty things and shiny bits but I don't see the appeal of expensive lug nuts. I bought the Gorilla lug nuts to deter theft of my wheels. But like Marlon said, "If somebody wants your wheels, those lug nuts aren't gonna stop them.". Haha

Word up home slice........When you are on the track and/or driving on the street no one can see the lugs......so who cares! Cosmetics for show cars, I can see that......to each his own, as long as they are happy with it, that is all that matters

So I'm a bit late to the party but... I agree with everyone.

I bought my wheels because they cosmetically look nice as well as gain some sort of performance by being lighter weight and all. Lugs don't matter, just a preference of design/color/price. I picked the first cheapest black set I could find that was somewhat reputable (Muteki) from a reputable site (SU). I sort of regret my halo headlights since they are unneccesary (and some probably think they are ricer/poser/I dunno), but they are what makes my car, well, my car. Besides DIY stuff I am done cosmetically. I'd like a Home Depot Lip and a DIY towplate...that's it

Now I am saving up for next summer's purchase: Coilovers! By then my car will have 70,000+ miles and will be in need of a new suspension anyways. It will be a great performance upgrade that also helps cosmetics, I suppose. No hellaflush here, just a lowered stance and tidier look that improves handling and ride.

I hope my wheels are on by the 14th for NASA at MidOhio--my calculations put them at arriving Friday or Saturday--If they come saturday I guess everyone will have to stop by my house on their way home from MidOhio to help me put 'em on and take a look at 'em!

Or bring them to the track and we'll put them on, as I will have my impacr wrench, jackstands and jack of course!!!

jri4,
you better get in contact with the owner pretty quickly and ask what size the hub bore is on the OZ's... subies have smaller hub bores (56.1) i believe than the mazdas do (67.1 i believe)

figured id try to save you some potential head/heartache later down the road

Not 100% positive, but the hb should be 73, and he just needs new hub rings for 67.1/73.

just got done with a softball game at my school, ive remained freinds with a few of my professors since graduating 2 years ago and they asked me to try and put an alumni team together for the yearly intermural season... well..... we won 35-10 tonight and we didnt really try after the 3rd inning, hope the competition in the intermural softball gets better than it was tonight, if not they might as well start etching the alumni team on the trophy now... lol

sorry bud, just thought of that today... pm the guy and ask, if they are see if hes cool with refunding, if not better look for to make friends with someone that works in a metal shop and bore them out some...

how hard would it be to bore them out? i've got tools galore....I mean, what does it entail and how exact....could i bore bigger then use a ring?

5zigen is out of matte black fn01r-c's... (argh)

I could get Matte Bronze shipped to me in a few days, but I'm just not sold on Bronze on yellow... Idk. What do you guys think?

personally i dont think id want to do it myself and ive seen others get it done for 50-100 bucks

id look/call around to machine shops in your area, see if they have done that before, how much they charge etc etc

good luck man... hope everything works out

What material are the OZ's exactly? THey are cast (not forged) I believe, but are they steel? Aluminum? sorry, I'm freaking a bit

Levi,

Thanks for the heads up....I dunno what I'm gonna do, but the deal I got on these rims is still too good to pass up. I will make them work

Ok folks. Figured I'd announce this now, since the ball has begun rolling...

It looks like I may be going to China for work. Beijing to be exact. All details are not finalized yet, but it looks like it will be for 6 to 12 months. I'll find out soon enough.

Congratulations! That will be such an amazing experience for you! Once in a lifetime for sure! So happy for you!
PS. I think this is what you are going to be doing over there! (wiggle) http://news.yahoo.com/s/huffpost/669166

Thanks! It should be a lot of fun. I'll have my computer with me and plenty of interwebs, so I'll be sure to hop on here and update you guys.

I think they have to be mounted to a special lathe that spins the wheel to bore out the hub. I think I've seen it done on that Muscle Car tv show... I'm sure there are some local shops that can do it for you, like Levi said. I wouldn't do it myself but I'm sure you will get them all bored out and mounted in no time. No worries, mate!

Like, 5Zigen is on back order for the matte black or just that shop you tried to order from? I'd hold out for matte black if you can, or check out some other wheels. I don't think bronze would swing with the yellow and carbon fiber...

I would definitely just spend the money and have a shop bore them for me.

Google Chrome FTW, I have the extension that translates all of the text on the page so it looks like it was made in english
