The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Oh, don't even get me started on Weather Report. I have a framed picture of Jaco Pastorius in my room and have read his biography 3 times. And I have pretty much every album and DVD he played on. That cat is like a God to me. Haha!

Jaco=Jimi Hendrix of Bass...he is a god, died too young. I have everything he has recorded. I have every Weather Album/disc ever recorded, my all time favorite band......I did a Tenor Sax theory class with Wayne Shorter, back in the 80's......

sorry, diverting off the music topic for just a titch - hence we call it the random thread ...

if anyone is interested in watching or hanging out, marlon and i will be running at NORA's autox at Northfield Park tomorrow, first car off is about 10am and we'll probably wrap up around 3ish ... i won't be expecting much from me since i haven't autox'd in a couple of months, but it's a club challenge and should be some pretty good talent showing up ... and also so you can see what a 'real' autox is vs. the superfly one ...

ok, back to the music ... (band)

Early RHCP are really good. But I stopped listening to them after "One Hot Minute". It sounds like all the new albums all sound the same and they ran out of ideas. But yeah, Flea is pretty badass. And apparently one hell of a jazz trumpeter too!

Here's a game I like to play;
What cd/album on your iPod is currently in your car, alarm clock, at work, listened to last. And be honest.

Jon- I didn't know you played bass too?

i usually have my iPod on shuffle, so its not full albums or anything, but the last album i intentionally pulled up was Modest Mouse - Good news for people who love bad news.

I started off playing guitar in high school with a couple buddies, one of the guys played drums and had a bass, so we'd always kinda swap around instruments. since i have fat stubby fingers i realized that bass was a better fit for me and bought a bass. i played off and on for about 5-10 years, and then when I got married and bought a house and stuff it was low on my priorities. i realized when my daugher was born that i hadn't played it in at least a year and decided it was time to let it go...i was never that great anyway...

Big time Ska & Punk fan. I am one of the six people with a Zune, so I can get all I want for $15 per month & keep 10 songs if I want.

i like that they took over 102.5...comes in better on my radios

i also like 106.7 now that it changed to "gen x radio"...i find it hilarious what they play on that station...sir mix a lot followed by r.e.m., etc

When I got my Jeep it came with Sirius radio and the 90's on 9 station is exactly what Gen X Radio turned into.

/Off topic

Are there every any statewide Mazda meets?

Do you mean "ever"? And rarely as far as I know in Ohio. Last year there was a the big BBQ at Phens house and a Columbus meet a week or two later. That's about it.

There could be another one. Throw out some ideas. We'll do it again. I wanted to do another QSL meet in Columbus but I'm lazy and never set it up.

I want to set up another Mohican Fun Run with dinner afterwards. Or somewhere around Wooster. Kevin says there are some great roads out there too.

Lauri and I discussed that last night on the way home. I said we could do a fun run after the Hyperdrive @ MId-Ohio, as that would kill a couple of hours and then people could head back to Mid-Ohio for the cookout and beer....

Just a thought, we are alos going to look to add some additional roads to make it a longer....

i'm still working on the picnic idea, but it will be for sometime next summer.

Ok folks. Figured I'd announce this now, since the ball has begun rolling...

It looks like I may be going to China for work. Beijing to be exact. All details are not finalized yet, but it looks like it will be for 6 to 12 months. I'll find out soon enough.
