Mazda5 cargo van?

I saw a photo a while back of a Mazda5 turned into cargo/delivery van. The rear was gutted. A flat floor was installed and a cargo cage was installed to protect the driver. For the life of me I cannot remember where the heck I saw it (not sure if it was here or on another Mazda site). Did a search and came up empty. Can anyone direct me to the photo?

Look at Page 1 and 2 of the “POST A PIC OF YOUR MAZDA5 - Ongoing Thread” under the Appearance forum:

Bo_denmark, what's with the cargo area? Doesn't look like the seats simply folded down. Cargo area looks deeper and flatter than what we get in NA, that is, folding the seats down. Were the seats removed?

Hey
I Denmark we can buy it as a van. so the seat in the back is removed and replaced whit hard floor..

actual i think denmark is the only country where this option is available

Such a shame. This would out-Transit Ford with minimal cost. Oh, and forget that afterthought the HHR Panelvan!

I've always believed that the Mazda5 was originally designed to be shared/sold by Ford. But they didn't want to cannibalize their Transit van, so they never took it up. I do believe they co-branded it in other markets.

Awesome! There was a thread on a mountain bike forum regarding the Transit and this conversion came to mind. A new 5 is $2k less than the Transit and you get more power, better handling, better gas mileage, more creature comforts, etc. Then consider that you can buy a low mile used 5 for at least $10k less than the Transit and you have tons leftover for whatever you would want to do to customize the 5 for your particular need. Granted you don't have the roof height of the Transit but this would be more than capable. The only shortcoming I can thing of is the rear suspension in the 5...probably have to figure out heavier duty springs and dampers for the rear if you are going to haul heavy stuff.

Thanks for the links!

I like the cargo van idea, and always think of those pics that you are referring to,

It is what made my start thinking about a Mazda5/Westfalia Camper conversion.(smash)

I think that's my quote! :)

Yep, and it is from this forum. I corrected my earlier post - the exchange was from page 1 and 2 of the "Post a Pic of your Mazda5" thread under the appearance section of this forum.
