Wanted: Someone to install my CP-E motor mount

As it says, I need someone experienced to put my rear MM on my car. I live in an apartment and don't have the tools or means, so I'm willing to pay someone.

Criteria: you live in reasonable distance (preferably an hour or less from Newport News, but I'm not against driving to Richmond). You have a Speed3 and you have installed the RMM on your car yourself.

I'll pay a little cash, or buy you a carton of smokes, or a case of beer, if that's your thing. I know the value of people's time, and I'm willing to pay a bit for said time. I'd rather go to someone who's done this before than take it to a shop.

So, if you're in Tidewater or nearby, and have the tools and know-how, reply here (no PM's, if you don't mind). This will have to be on a weekend, whenever you and I both have a bit of free time.

Too bad I don't live closer. I'd do it for free. It is a 10 minute job.
 
I'm just a little out of your distance or I'd do it for you. It really is brutally simple. Takes longer to put it up on the jacks and take it back down than it does to do the swap.

LOL so true - 98% of the installation is just getting the damn car off the ground!
 
Its really a basic install lol. Imo do it yourself. Save time, gas, miles, money, etc.

All you need is a socket set and jackstands. And maybe some pblaster if the 2 bolts are rusty.


I knew nothing about cars until I installed my parts by myself. Did the RMM in my apartment parking lot in about 45 minutes. Most of which was trying to remove those damn rusty bolts.

well i think the OP doesn't have a jack and/or jack stands and a good set isn't what you and I would call "cheap :) I will have the same problem when i get mine.
 
Take it to a shop and get it installed for $20 or so. They have the air tools and torque wrenches to do it right. The 3 bolts on the transmission can be a motherfu-ker to loosen.

You won't get a shop to do it for 20 bucks lol. They would charge you at least 1/2 hour labor which they usually have set prices. No need for airtools.

For the price they charge you could buy jackstands which are a good investment . . .

Think your confused with jacks and jackstands. A couple of decent jackstands will cost about 30 bucks. Thats how much my kobalt 2 ton stands cost.
 
Smaller shops will not charge that much, at least where I live.

The cost to get it done bottom line is cheaper than buying the tools. OP needs ramps or jack and jackstands ratchet/wrench, a breaker bar, sockets.

My suggestion is find a smaller family run mechanic, and see. Might be more than $20, but less than $50 for sure.
 
He lives in an apartment. Keeping a jack and stands might be a problem. Agreed that they are a good investment for most, but if you have no place to keep tools to begin with...
 
Yeah I don't plan many other future mods, maybe an intake but that's about it. I don't mind hooking up one of you guys for a favor. I've learned a lot and had a lot of fun on this board.

Mid-Life, if my best friend (lives in Brunswick county, near South Hill) is up for a road trip one day, I might pick him up and drive down 85/US1 to see ya, if I haven't gotten this done yet. We'll see.

Yeah I guess. I live in an apartment too with no garage. I have a box of tools, 2 jackstands, and a jack . . .

Thats how I install my stuff.

Anyway its up to the OP but I know I for one am always happy to have installed stuff myself. Best way to learn about your car. But i guess if you don't plan on other mods then I could understand.

Good news is - well, depending on what you go with - you wont need to jack her up to install an intake :)
 
If you were up for a trip to Columbus, OH we've done a couple of these and they are a cinch at this point. Wouldn't need to pay anyone just hang out for a bit. (cabpatch)

I didnt jack mine up. I just turned the wheel all the way to the right and pulled the wheel well back, not as much clearance, but doable

BTW, i had the exhaust shop that removed my resonators put my rear engine mount on. They charged me 30$
