HELP Please!

I need help my engine for sure is about to lock up I found one for $300 Its from a wrecked Hatch 2.3L just like mine, however it does not have a oil pan which is no problem bc I can just take mine off. Its already pulled the question I have is how do I check if its good or not and if you know where I can get one. The engine is said to be had 80k miles. Ones I have found on Eden (bc I have access) comparable are between $600-$2500 I know its worth looking at so im going on Sat. Im also open for ideas about my currant engine bc its not yet locked up...(help)

how do you know your current engine is going to lock? what is oging on with that one now? why doesn't the 'new' on have an oil pan and how long has it been without one? and where are my damn pants?

Well for one I let my fiance use the car for the past year thats where it starts she didnt change the oil and it did run low as soon as she told me it was knocking I did a tune up on it the car has 104k on the engine. 3 days after the change she called me saying that the car got really loud no lights came on (she says) and then it turned off I had it towed home. I checked the oil for mettle (there was none) then pulled out the spark plugs the #1 plug closest to the driver side had some oil in it. The others did not. The engine will still start on its own gets VERRY loud then a little quieter as it runs but im too scared to drive it, I really dont want to pay for another towing too! There is no lights coming on when I start it.

The one I am looking at has been stored in a garage and warped in plastic he says, but like I said I haven't seen it yet.

probably fried something....guessing that your seals are ******. you may be able to fix your motor. may be better than believing someone who 'supposedly' had a tarp over a dry engine for a year.

dude it sounds like you fried your seals for sure id rip apart the block cuz if the engine hasnt seized up then you can just buy all new internals i suggest forged since youd be doin a complete rebuild. if you havent blown a rod it turns on then your engine is still good dont waste money on a new one that you dont know that works spend that 200 on your engine now.

the pistons have little seals around them and if those are gone which would most likely happen if you ran it without oil then just buy your internals..

its going to cost you more and take you more time to rebuild it than it is to drop in a junkyard motor. this is why dealers under warranty never never never rebuild engines. the labor time and parts cost will always exceed a simple drop and swap. if this is your daily driver, get a reman or junkyard engine with a warranty, drop it in and take better care of it this time around.

Well I am also looking for the most cost effective method as well. I still owe $4k on my car so I still have payments to make on the damb thing! Im going to have a friend of mine who is a mechanic go with me to look at the engine before I buy it. He knows what to look for as far as how it was stored and what parts go with it he said.

he's not looking at a 'drop in/junk-yard' motor. doesn't even have an oil pan on it....my guess is that everything in there is dry-to-hell and won't last for sh!t. your seals are def. fried and banging against the block instead of flowing smoothly. you can swap these now or chance it and prob. do the same thing later with this other ? motor.

maybe it is just me, but we are missing the bigger issue here...trade in your gf for letting your car go a year with no oil change! wtf! my wife doesn't know s*** about cars, but she knows enough to tell me she hasn't had sh!t done to it and that it will need oil a few times a year. can i get an amen...

no excuse dump her dumbass no offense lol.....man shes costin you sum g's here!!! if youve got a friend whos a mechanic im tellin you **** cost effective you never wanna go cheap on your car cuz s*** like this happens and costs you more spend a lot now and dont worry later.....if your freind can do good work have him help you and pay him sum cash to help you rebuild the engine all you need is seals rods and your pistons. that runs like a 1200 in a complete package itll be forged so you dont have to worry bout s*** going wrong also you can pick your compression ratio....this is your one chance to upgrade your car lol....id do it then again im a freak when it comes to rebuilds i do crazy s*** and bad ass work lol.....

knocking does not always mean detonation and vice versa. i want pics too. of the motor, not the girl. well, if you want to throw in some pics of the girl thats fine too.

Well the motor didnt look good to my friend so im going to look for another one. I am also going to get another opinion on my currant engine to see whats up with fixing it. My friend wants to pull mine apart bc he thinks my main seal is busted bc of the oil on my spark plug. I want to get more opinions but I am not going to drive the car and I really dont want to pay for towing it all over the place!
