2010 MS3 Taillight Tint

I've seen tons of MS3s that have tinted tails using vinyl/tint material, however I haven't seen a 2010 MS3 yet with them done. Anyone have them done yet? I have a local guy here who does them but says it's impossible because of the bends.

This picture totally made me drool. Which is why I'm pursuing this so hard.

Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'm really not interested in spraying them with VHT unless I have to.

nope. theres a '10 ms3 on my campus that has vinyled tails. its possible to do.

That's good news, I suppose the guy I know just doesn't want to tackle the bends. I'll get back to him and see if he's willing to try. If not I'll try to find someone else.

Anyone have picture of a 2010 with tinted tails?

If I had some warm weather id do it right now and have pics in an hour. As an installer I can say its possible on the 2010 for sure. Done much harder headlights and tail lights like the new lexus's and infinitis

You're also an installer too, bro! I'd order some film and definitely f*ck it up royally. I'm hoping the local guy here can pull it off. He's very hesitant about doing something that's time consuming (with all the angles). I'll take it to him in the morning and see what he thinks.

Just finished wrapping my tails. Two layers of tint later and here we are.

My car's dirty and it's not the greatest picture. They are dark and match the car almost perfectly. And you can still see the blinkers and brake lights about 400ft away which will hopefully keep the law off my tails (no pun intended).

Cool, what type of film was used? Do you have distant pics of the rear?

I'll take some tomorrow when I get to work. I have to go get the inner left re-done as there's a small scratch that you can see if you get up on it. Looks like a scratch at least could be a crease, either way my installer will fix it. (I hope lol).

It's a vinyl tint material I believe. Not sure the exact type but I can find out. The guy that did it whipped them out double-layer in about 2.5 hours.

I just smoked my tails... waiting for the rain to letup so I can put them in. I used decalfx lens film. With enough heat from the heat gun and keeping the lens wet while i contoured the film, it really wasnt that big of an issue. Just took a little time. Will post pics by tomorrow I hope.

Can't wait to see this. My installer used a dry method and it turned out good. But around the center on one of the tails (where the bump is) it's bubbling up, there's a wrinkle in part of the material that came up, and the edges are starting to come up. I think he was supposed to prime the edges, but no dice.

Really makes me think we're using the wrong material here. I mean from a distance they look great. But get right up on them you can see the flaws. I feel like I may have wasted my money. They did offer to totally redo the for free, but I basically have to take a day off of work to get it done... :(

I'm about ready to fly you out and do mine lol.

just a thought.... why not just spray tint the tails?

I'm actually about to. I've already soaked a bunch of money into having them wrapped and I'm really not happy with them. The only problem with spraying them is they need to be out of the car for a few days and I don't have an extra set of tails to ride around with, so it's a bit of a rock/hard place. Suggestions?
