Problems with Bose system and sub

I recently installed one 12" sub in the hatch and have been ok with the outcome but was wondering if it is possible with the stock HU to take the bass out of the front speakers if that makes since. Do I need to take out the stock passenger seat sub? Or is there a way to tune it where the front door speakers don't have the freqs for bass? I taped into the wires under the drivers seat for my amp.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, in my past car with an aftermarket HU the front speakers sounded much better without bass then trying to compete with the sub and distorting the highs

If you're still running the front speakers from the bose amp, there's nothing you can do about it. That amp by design sends bass to the fronts to make up for the anemic stock sub.

Well, I shouldn't say there's nothing you can do... you could high-pass the woofers with an inline capacitor. You just can't stop the stock amp from sending bass to the front channels.

does the amp you are using have a remote bass control port? my jl audio amp has one and i had to order the RBC knob separate. basically, you control just that amp, separate from all other speakers. first turn the bass down on your stereo and then adjust or turn up the gains on the amp.

Here is a pic of the bass control mounted between the cup holders.

hope this helps!

You will not be able to tweek any frequency to any speaker. I understand what you want to do, but to get that type of "tunability" in speakers requires that you have an Audio processor hooked up to an external amp which is powering the speakers.

The stock speakers are power by the bose amplifier which I am sure is not customizable (it sucks anyways, one amp to power a full audio freq. spectrum is an awful idea.). our passenger seat "sub" can't even play below 120hz, which in the audio world would make it a woofer at best. If you want my suggestion, scrap the whole audio system in the car and use the stock head unit (the best thing about this car's audio system is it comes with pre-amps, which means no one will want your non-aftermarket headunit).

Sorry if my rambling doesn't make a lot of sense.

Or you could just turn up the bass boost and gain on the aftermarket amp, and turn down the bass on the stock HU.. that should make the stock speakers a little more "clearer"
