NEMOC Random BS Thread

Thank you Chris a little bit late, but I wanted to say it.
I am very proud to be a citizen of this great nation that has gave me so many opportunities. All thanks to people like you and all the others before you that gave everything including their lives so we all can have the rights that we enjoy today and many of us take for granted.

Thank you again

I ate for free at Applebee's.

On a side note.. I appreciate everyone's thanks for today and I appreciate it a lot. Today made me realize why I love doing what I do. It's the people who give me thanks while in uniform or take their time to talk to me about how much they appreciate what I do to serve the country. (Yes, I've done a HELL of a lot of "things" before I got back to CT.) It makes me smile and feel good about myself when people thank me or offer to pay for my food/drinks; which I politely refuse.

The only downside is, while they thank me, they seem to forget about those who have come before me and given their life, their blood, their sweat, and/or their tears to defend this nation from those who choose to harm us. It saddens me that it takes a day like today for people to honor those who have served us in the past. I spent the morning/afternoon of today with some of those people. The stories I received from some of the submarine sailors of the past are NO comparison to the ones I have. In my opinion, while people thank me for what I do now, it's really the veterans of the past who people should be thanking. I'm just continuing on the tradition.

So if you see a veteran, thank them. Not just today, but any and every day because they helped ensure you are able to do what you are doing right now.

Cheers~

(thumb) amen! my dad was a korean war vet (often referred to as "the forgotten war")...talk about no thanks!

Heh, since the time change I would have to be up much earlier. That's why October is the best month for them. If by chance I am up and about then maybe. Plus it's getting too damn cold. :'(

Here's a few more.

Great pictures Josh.

Morning folks! I had an interesting drive this morning. I took one of the back roads to work and it was all covered in leaves. It reminded me of a scene from a movie as I blasted down the street, kicking up leaves behind me.

It was fun.

Thanks Chris for your post yesterday. Everyone, veterans included, should always remember the veterans that served our country past and present. My grandfather served in WWII but unfortunately he died before I could ever ask him about it. My father volunteered to go to Vietnam.

In my community band, we have several veterans as well. One of them is in his 90's and in WWII he piloted blimps over the Atlantic spotting enemy submarines. Even 65 years later he is proud of the roll he played in the war and enjoys telling us stories. It makes me sad to think that the legacy of WWII will soon only be available in books. So if you know a veteran, ask them to tell you a story and write it down. Some day your kids will ask about it and you can pass on the legacy.

Dang Mark, with all of this work going into the house are you sure you are moving?
i know, but when you read about the top things that buyers are looking for in new homes it's things like:
updated kitchens (we got new appliances, new tile floor, new corian counters, paint etc) bathrooms (new everything)
Getting it ready to sell.
yup, but not just yet...i need to build back up my 101k first!(crazy)
zillow has reported that my house has gone up in value over the last 10 months to the tune of around $86k(cool)...so that helps...my hope is to sell my house here, build an inlaw with my daughter, and buy a small house in NC outright, i might do the condo thing as then i have no yard to worry about!(cool) we'll see...

Mark, if you haven't redone your counter tops yet have you looked into hi-macs? It is very similiar to Corian but a fraction of the cost. This is what we used when updating our kitchen earlier this year.

that's funny! that's the exact product we used...i call it corian, but corian is a brand...yup that here! what do you use on it to get the scratches out?

Mark, just a word of advise about zillow. Zillow is based out of the south and have no idea about the actual market in the North East. Their estimated prices are not true prices for our area. If you have a realtor do a market annalysis for you, you will be surprised to learn that Zillow under values houses around here significantly :) (My mother is a realtor and my father does real estate law)

hey luke, thanks for the tip! i kinda just use it as a guage...your right, i've noticed the underevaluation...they do list comps with houses sold locally, so i can kinda judge from that where i might stand...when the time comes i'll probably enlist my cuz who's a realtor and have hom do the real thing!
