how bout geting a $190 ticket for, get this, seat belt under the arm. i kid you not.

were i live. brier, wa. is notorious in western Washington for giving out pointless tickets. nobody drives through here. and to boot i live about 2 blocks from the police station.
im so screwed

well put your seatbelt on right

Why not just wear it the way it's supposed to be worn. If you get in a front end crash like that, the chances of throwing your shoulder out would go way up. Highly doubt you'd get compensation if that happened.

hey i just saw your post in my thread about cleaning up the turbo,

what i did was sand it using 400, u can wet or dry sand its really just a personal preferance
i would use like a wire brush to get in between the letters really good
then soak in some simple green, then rinse that off with some water, tape up the turbo
i wouldnt use primer unless they sell the flameproof primer at the store too
then just like 2 light coats and 1 wet coat, bake it and ur set

edit: thats to Dub btw

Got my car back, runs like a dream again :D

It is a little slower, not a whole lot, from replacing the stock pulley which sucks but no more squeaking or ****** up belts so I'm cool!!

what was wrong with it ?????? so im guessing you didnt have to replace the water pump?????

The timing belt tensioner broke, lost its spring so it was bouncing around inside the timing area but the water pump didn't look that great, espcially since the car has over heated a couple of times, so I had it replaced anyways.

I had a random misfire cel for 20min or so after I got the car but it went away and hasn't came back.

Dub come on with the tranny swap man. I am converting my 95 auto talon to a 97 eclipse manual all weekend long. All this for my beater. LOL. Almost forgot to mention how much I hate DSM. Nothing is ever easy.(headshake

Alright cool, thanks.

I'm about to clean it but I wanted to ask, should I plug up the coolant and oil openinngs? The lines get in the way but I also didn't know if it would be a bad idea cause it might get in those areas. Thoughts?

What are you using to clean. I would flush out the bearings as well. Just oil it back up prior to install. The cleaner the better in my book.

And just as i was giving you crap... you post the shifter.

Brake cleaner. I was also wondering when I paint it too, should these areas be plugged up & how cause I wanna clean the whole thing really good.

Did you pay to have someone do it? How much? I have a feeling i'm going to need to have my timing belt and water pump changed by a shop. I'd much rather do it but i don't know if i'll have time with school

I usually use a parts washer to clean... cans of brake cleaner will do. Spray everything, wire brush as it soaks, and wipe and repeat. In the end i flush through the bearing (oil lines) and cooling passages. Let it dry ball up some paper and plug the holes then paint away. Let it dry and remove the paper. Then i would flush half a quart of oil through the bearing (to clean it of any debrie and lubricate it) and water through the cooling lines. Ready for install.(cabpatch)

When I flush it before paint, can I use water in both or do I have to use oil?

Never put water down the oil lines. and no need to put oil down the water lines. Just use cleaner to flush out the dirt and build-up and use the same substance that is suppost to flow through that orfice to flush out the cleaner and any remaining debrie.

The oil also lubes the bearing for you initial start-up because initiallythere will be no oil in your lines cause they are new. Hope that clarifies.

I got the part about lubing the bearings, and I didn't think I should put water in the oil side so thanks (2thumbs)

That would make for bad day there. I would not flush with oil until right before install. Clean it and paint it and let it sit until install time. Cause then you got to worry about oil and paint and then it draining everywhere
