'07 MS3 with 8500 miles. I started getting this loud grinding noise only when reversing, and only when the wheel is turned to the right. Brought it to the dealer, they come back with "bad hub bearings". Bringing my car back on thursday to have them relaced. They are giving me a loaner for the day.

Really pissed and surprised.... 8000 miles!!

I noticed the car had started making a wheel-speed sensitive thnnn thnnn thnnn sound back in the winter and pretty much only when cornering right. I assumed it was some weirdness with my winter tires and hoped it would go away once I put my summers on... It didn't. I took it in to Browns Fairfax Mazda for an annual safety inspection and diagnosis of noise. They came back saying they couldn't detect any noise and nothing was wrong but my PS fluid needed replacement... In a moment of idiocy, I agreed. $200 later.... Noise was still there.

So the noise continued to worsen and I couldn't find any wheel well rubbing or any other cause so I took it to Fairfax Chantilly Mazda and told them everything and they called me back 4hrs later saying they had replaced a bad front left wheelbearing under warranty...

So minus one for Browns Fairfax and plus one for Browns Chantilly. One took me for a ride and the other actually solved my problem.
