What have you done to your MS3 today?

Hows the cone rash come out of the paint? I have only been out to one autox even this year but didn't hit a cone (ya i know means I wasn't driving fast enough). Just wondering if it leaves anything that can't be buffed out.

I haven't tried to take it all of yet but I rubbed it a little with my finger and it came off easily enough.

On a dynojet I was at 296whp 338wtq.
with the mods you have listed, basically an intake and AP, thats b/s, or that dyno was way off. I am barely breaking 300hp with all my mods. about 315hp 330tq at the moment. I wanna see a dyno sheet and a timeslip from a track.....

All boosted cars I've run in the past have been around 12.5-12.7 at wot. For n/a cars I've run between 12.5-13. I don't know what the ms3 a/f ratios are stock but if you feel safe in the 11s go ahead.

I would have thought with the forged pistons, direct injection, and spark setup you would have been able to run even leaner with these.

again, what cars are you talking about? because i dont know a single boosted car running afr's that hot. 12.5-13 is just plain stupid to be running unless you are boosting like 4psi haha. with meth 12.5 is plenty hot. forged pistons doesnt mean you can lean the car out either...

What type of dyno was your car strapped to?

Heres a link i posted a while back after my tune. that was done on a dyno dynamics. I was running with 20psi also. on a mustang i put down 230/260 before i got retuned. dynojet read what i posted. i was merely proving the major differences between different dynos. Now i am putting down 250/280 on a mustang. I will gladly post that if needed

I dont drag, i autox so timeslips really wont help....

I do agree with you on the whole leaning the car out arguement. That guy is gonna throw a rod if hes running like that.....

(iagree)when i was stock i would consistantly place towards the top of my class, now im in DSP running with guys that have a helluva lot more stuff than i do and rarely get in the top 10....gotta get H3br3ws suspension/wheel setup

Ya it definitely helps. I have a feeling I'm still going to get spanked at Nationals without sways and hardly any power upgrades. We'll see though.

Who even cares "how well you do?"

I do it for the fun of it, and to race against my own times in pursuit of bettering my driving skills...if I happen to get first-in-class (as I did in STU at the last event I attended) it's just icing on the cake. ;)

I also wanted to try autox, but first i need a tune and hella suspension upgrades. Not to mention a set of sick wheels and outrageous tires. Is it hard to learn to navigate and know when to punch the gas and when to brake? sorry to jack the thread, im just very interested!

its not hard to navigate, by me they have a novice drivers meeting where they have an instructor walk the course with you giving you tips. you can also request an instructor to ride along. as for knowing when to brake, remember slow in fast out. going into a corner too hot causes you to understeer, losing lots of speed, time and actually making the course longer since your going wide. better to have a slower entry speed, good line and perfect setup for the next turn rather than go balls to the wall.

Big mistake lots of beginners make is not looking far enough ahead. i look 2 gates ahead and that keeps me in line. if you focus gate to gate or cone to cone your not prepping yourself for the best line for the gates further down the course. By doing this your reacting, rather than setting yourself up and this tends to lead to bad times

Just added some new mods to the MS3 this week.
ETS Top mount Intercooler
Cobb Turbo Inlet
HKS SSQ BOV with CPE flange
Str33tunit Recirc. tube.

Definitely runs stronger through the gears. Any idea what kind of power increase I would have gotten with these mods - Only other mod is CP-E cold air intake.

If you do decide to start AutoXing and don't care what class you are in...the best mod for the price is a stiffer rear sway bar. Leave the front bar stock, because adding both a new front and rear bar will only neglect the rear bar helping the car to rotate. Find some used racing slicks, mount them on some crappy wheels and have at it. A little more negative camber in the front won't hurt either (see pic w/ stock suspension alignment).
