the whole handling prowess of the mazdaspeed 6 is based on its front wheel drive biased AWD system. 50/50 is a really good figure for our specific car. i would like to see one fully bolted spec ms6 before i see things like a drifting mazdaspeed6. this coming from a former 240sx drifter.
yes, it can be done, but it's not as dramatic as in a 240sex' for instance.
Yeah I was just curious because I love the characteristics of rear-wheel drive and I had the hardest time deciding between a MS6 and a Mustang. In the end, I couldn't pass up all the Speed 6 had to offer when the only thing I liked about the Mustang was that it was rear-wheel drive.
I ended up deciding on a 2007 black MS6 with only 5k miles on it. I will be picking it up in 2 days. It seems like a great car from the two test drives I had.

just throw some old bald tires on the back, and new grippy ones on the front (shady)
It is a haldex unit. The haldex used in other cars (VW / Audi TT) can be upgraded for more dynamic performance, to include sending more power to the rear.
Here's an example of that:

With that knowledge, the answer is yes the MS6 haldex can be upgraded. Someone just has to make the effort to figure it out.
wow with only 5k miles. thats sick. how much did u get it for?
I got it for $20000. I'm not sure if that was a great price or not but they gave me an incredible offer for my trade-in.
I'm so glad I went with the Speed 6. After driving it for a couple days, I haven't noticed any of the torque steer and not too many front wheel drive characteristics that I had to deal with back when I had an 03 Acura TL type S. I guess the all-wheel drive kicks in a lot which is awesome.
I'm not hard on my car. I actually baby it about 80% of the time. Every now and then I will really get after it and not once, even in rain, have I ever felt this car torque steer. There was once where I spun all four wheels through first gear... that was interesting. But outside of that, torque steer is for the Speed 3 guys. (burnout)
