I hate to rain to Captains parade here, but Exhaust Depot has been doing this for a while now. Their pipping comes powder coated, the hot side of the pipe is 2.25" and the cold side piping is 2.5". Price is the same, $300. So now at least there is a choice.
Captain, you mentioned the kit comes with couplings and clamps. What kind of clamps, t-bolt or the cheap kind? Is powder coating free like Exhaust Depot or for an extra charge? How soon will this be ready to ship out? Also pics of how it's routed through the bay would be great.

I'm new to turbos, so I'm not sure which is better. I think I read somewhere that by going 2.25" on hot side and then 2.5" on cold side is a good way to minimize pressure drop. But then again, I could be wrong. Some one who has the knowledge about this please pitch in.

that's the idea for smaller piping...reduced turbo lag

i'll rain right back exhaust depot's kit does not include couplers and clamps for $300 or $350 per their site. so at $250 for an intro price or $300 retail with those parts included, ours is the better bargain. i'll powdercoat, but because we're going with aluminium pipes, you won't need powdercoat if you like a nice polished finish.

there will be an option for t-bolt clamps or worm gear. and speaking on the basis of experience, a properly tightened worm gear clamp under 30psi is more effective than a t-bolt which is overtightened at any PSI, which is far more commonly done than one might think. t-bolt clamps are great when used right, worthless when not, and all but the highest boost levels are more hype than anything else.

I am trying to work with a local Mazda dealer to purchase an out of state Speed3, currently have a MkIV GTi. I purchased a generic FMIC kit for the GTi, but that didn't get anywhere. The core I have is 28" x 2.5" x 8" and would like to use it with this kit. As a question/suggestion, would it be possible to have the pipes long enough to fit a wider intercooler but with reinforced silicone hoses to mate with shorter ones? (Possible the installer could trim the hoses to fit.) Or will the pipes be cut to fit a specific length intercooler?

Edit: Re-read earlier about cores being same width as Cobb's. If I may add though, fitting pipes that would allow a bit more flexibility with cores may increase sales. Not saying it will, and I know you'll be offering a kit with a core. If your kit prices are good with the core then even better. Just running through ebay I found some 27" cores going for under $100.

you are on the right track here. the core we'd be selling is 27x7x2.5. you can make modifications to the pipes to fit whatever core you'd like, thats the beauty of buying a pipe kit over a completed FMIC kit. its very possible to be well under $500 for a FMIC once all is said and done here.

polished aluminum pipes, standard clamps, factory bypass valve flange, reinforced silicone couplers.
