where can i find stronger n more reliable axles????all i can find is the 400hp n up ones for like $600....is there any cheaper ones strong enough to keep up with a welded diff?????
i have a welded diff and 68,000 miles on my axles, and around 250whp....no axle problems ever!!! Just motor and tranny issues...lol not sure what kind of power you have, or the hp rating on the stock ones for that matter!!!
Maybe you just need stiffer motor mounts.. (dunno)
Welding the diff does not mean converting it to a solid no-slip diff. All it does is reinforce a joint that's currently held together by weak rivets by welding it. It's not going affect the drivetrain in any way, other than that the diff won't break anymore.
Which is a long way of saying that welding the diff won't cause or alleviate any other motor/tranny problems. Once you start getting into the high 200hp and closer to 300hp, the next part you'll likely have to watch out for is 3rd gear. Well, aside from rods/pistons obviously. lol
Another thing to remember with the axles is that the size of the MSP axles is actually different than other Proteges, despite what the people at Advance Auto or Napa try to tell you.. just as reference if you ever do have to replace one. But yeah, the axles should be fine.
thanx 4 the reference i did see the Advance Auto site i diddnt think they cud all be the same....do u no of any other sites for axles and performance parts for the msp??i saw protegegarage, streetsunit, crossoverperformance
