Anyone thinking of Cobb Short throw?

Hey guys. I know Cobb has started to limit production on these so if you're thinking about getting one, better do it now. Just installed mine the other day and I am completely happy with the feel of the shifter. Install is not bad at all. If you have ever swapped out your shifter spacers for better ones, you'll have an even easier time with it because you've taken out the center dash before. My only complaint is the clicking sound I was getting from the return spring. It's just the springy wire that holds the shifter in place. It's a real easy fix. All you have to do is get a sharp knife, preferably on the small size and grind down a little groove where the spring hits the plastic. You'll see what I mean if you get it, and problem solved.

I would post pics of my install, but again, it's easy and the pictures Cobb gives you with their instructions are basically good enough.

I went with TWM because I heard of some issues with the Cobb STS and it was cheaper :)

How much did the Cobb STS cost?

my TWM has been in for a long time now, never any issues with it. Worked 100% from day 1, and still nice and tight.

It was 250 from protege garage. I don't mind spending the extra money because I already have other Cobb stuff. I know that's not really a good reason, lol, but whatever. I like Cobb.

thanks for doing business with us (breakn)

I ended up with an easier fix - just slid a small piece of rubber tubing over the end of the return spring and it didn't pop out from the groove any more when engaging first and reverse.

boycott COBB! (i have TWM)

WHY!! COBBs stuff may be a lil more then some other ppls parts out there but its not over priced CRAP its really nice stuff all the things i have gotten from cobb fit, and work like they should no issues.

(peep)

yeah I would say that TWM is the majority here. I think alot of that is because COBB was a little late in the game on the shifter. Many people already had the TWM by the time the COBB sts was released.

I didnt want to wait for the Cobb at the time and I didnt want that tall shifter height. I did want it to lower a little and be a bit shorter. I also was not to confident on the "adjustable" shifter or whatever they have on that thing. To each their own but TWM FTW!

That and the fact that it was about $100 more than the TWM. But I'm happy with my Cobb STS despite the little issues I had with install which all had easy fixes for in the end.

Ken, do you guys still have the Cobb STS in-stock (they're not shown on your web site)? If so, I want one. Not interested in a shifter that lowers the knob height.

Thanks.
