Do any non-P5 fenders fit a 2003 P5?

My Electric blue 2003 P5 just met a parking post.
I need to replace the drivers side fender. I'm wondering if I have to search the wreckers for just a P5, or will a regular protege sedan fender also fit?

Also was 2003 the only year for protege's to have the side marker light on the fender? Or can I go back a few years (I know that the 2002 P5's had NO side lights, but I don't know about the regular protege's). I would like to find one with the hole for the marker light if I can.

Thanks for your help.

2002.5 and up should have the side markers. And the fenders are the same for the sedan and wagon.

Also, since you are in brampton, you should check out the toronto protege club. Just google it, as posting links to other forums here is a bannable offence.

Thanks for the information! I know many other cars sedans and wagons have the same front end, but I didn't know about the protege. Thanks for that (and the info for the Toronto forum)

The hood, front fenders and front doors are interchangable between the proteges from 2001 to 2003, with the fenders depending on if they have the side markers or not. The rear doors are not interchangable though, the P5s are square at the top back corner, while the sedans are rounded.

I meant to post this months ago when I got my fender fixed after getting helpful info from this site. It doesn't really address OP's question, but I was really happy with my result, so here goes:

EDIT: Whoops. Add $65 for shipping to everything here - forgot that.

(2003 Protege5, black mica) I got side-swiped by an SUV who couldn't see my lil' car below his window sill. Guy was nice enough and apologetic - no worries. Body shop wouldn't do anything less than a 100% repair (mag resurface, blending, scratched plastic, etc.) for $3000 when all I needed was the fender replaced and painted to match. Looked around and found good reviews for "theonlinebodyshop" on eBay. Their original quote was $290, painted to match. I know, I know, pre-painted sounds scary, but they had good reviews.

They couldn't get me that price as every time they ordered my part they got one without the turn signal light hole. (They tried three times to get an inexpensive part on my behalf without my asking - nice folks.) Anyway, they offered to get me OEM and it was only $110 more, so I got that, and with it my turn signal hole (and probably a better part, fit, and finish to boot). At their request, I sent my gas filler lid in addition to my paint code for best match. Got the fender shipped back very well packed, color is awesome, and only two or three *tiny* imperfections. If I'd put it on myself and settled for no turn signal, it would have been $290. I got OEM so it was $400 + $150 for local installation by a professional on his own time who did a great job. So total cost was about $550 and result is awesome. I also hear metallic paint is hard to match, but these guys nailed it. (The body shop guy who installed it was impressed.)

Also, they packed the fender really well when they sent it. I'm going to try and find that post about "replacing a P5 fender" now, so I can finally reply.
Cheers,
