Different Options

I have a few options in mind for my Speed3 and I wanted to see what you all thought. I'm willing to spend up to $1300 or so. Also, on my signature is the list of mods that I already have done to my car. I'm not looking at getting anything that will take a while to remove/put on in case of dealer visits (DP/FMIC) and I don't want to get a CBE due to the minimal power gains and I'd like to keep my exhaust relatively quiet. I don't AutoExe or Drag Race at the strip, but I'll go canyon carving sometimes and go heads up with people on the street. Here are the lists of options I have in mind. I'm looking for a good balance to what I already have. Thanks all.

if i had the money, id have a full adjustable coilover kit. but i dont, so i dont haha.
 
you will be suprised how much better your car will feel with just coilovers. and why not toss in the cobb inlet also? =]
 
I am wondering how much of a difference will there be in coilovers vs. springs & rsb...would it be worth the $600 difference?

If I were you, I'd go with the new wheels. I have a ms cai, rpmc turbo inlet, su test pipe for power mods and I spin tires in first and second gear. I would go with a wider tire so I can grip and go. Plus lightweight rims I hear give you better gas mileage. I'm not sure if that is true or not.

I was exploring this option but I just can't justify an intangible item costing so much money...I'v heard great things from these courses but I guess I could see myself doing the same thing I do after leaving the doctor's office..."Did I really need that check-up?"(scratch)

Haha. I'v never had a car with coilovers though...just springs so I wish there was a way for me to drive a speed3 with similar mods and coilovers or borrow some for my car to see if the cost was worth it...since they are $1000+ I would just wanna make sure...seems like everyone is telling me to go coilovers though so I'm guessing they are worth it.

Good schools are expensive, but at least in my case I did feel a big difference in my driving before and after. I learned what I was doing right and what I was doing wrong, and with that baseline you can keep working on improving on your own. Also, hands on practice with a pro sitting next to you telling where you're screwing up is really useful.

Also, look at it from the point of view that if you manage to avoid just 1 crash, you'll probably have saved a good chunk, if not all or more of the money invested on the course.

If that option doesn't appeal to you, I also vote for b.
 
honestly, not to go against the grain or anything. But I would only suggest coils if you track the car atleast once a month or moar. I have never had a car with coils before and Im sure they make any car handle like a dream, but it will increase ride harshness on that 98.25% of the time when you are not ripping around a corner at a track. But hey thats just me and its your car.
 
Thanks PCspeed3 this is what I have been thinking...Anybody that has chimed in already have springs then switched over to coilovers? How much of an improvement did you feel...is it really worth it since I only street drive and hit the twisties every now and then? Are they really too stiff for regular street use?
 
If you plan on lowering either with just springs or coilovers, expect the ride harshness tradeoff. Coilovers are definitely more expensive but a no brainer to me as they allow infinite adjustment of height and are developed as a whole unit (ie. damper & spring) which typically yields better results than just a simple lowering spring (on stock dampers? no thanks). I'm running H&R coilovers and am quite satisfied with them overall but liked them more on my previous car ('99 Civic Si) as the ride/handling tradeoff wasn't as pronounced. The H&Rs are a bit softer and offer probably the best in terms of ride quality for a typical DD but keep in mind they are not dampening adjustable in any way.
