4K fuel cut any gear????

mine gave a PO171 code. its all stock. does not make a difference if its warmed up or not. cuts anywhere from 3k to 4K.

ha, read the code have been working on cars for over 10 years. I'm 27 have owned 10+ turbo cars in my life and worked on all myself. This is the first time I got a warranty on a car since it's just going to be a daily driver. The dealership is being a pain in my ass. It's a Ford dealership but somehow only one guy there will work on Mazda. Grrrrr

geh if only one guy is willing to work on the car...and the dealership is a PAIN in the ASS...that sucks...i hope that you can get this figured out...might just be better off taking it to mazda

what will happen is ill just be driving along normal and once teh boost comes on, it bucks pretty hard and goes back to normal with the boost right after after.
the car is bone stock from what i can tell. doesnt do it once warm at all. if i give it a good warm up it works perfectly. this morning i let it idle for a few minutes to clear the windshield and it didnt do it, but i was being a lot more careful about keeping out of boost.

temp was like 2 c this morning. pretty chilly i guess.

I dont think it would be the wastegate unless they dont like the cold. friend said it might be a vac leak. there is a hiss up near the TB my p5 didnt make.

what does fuel cut feel like? or running lean? imkindanew to this stuff.

sounds like fuel cut
take the vacuum line leading to the wastegate and use it to blow into the wastegate...if you are able to blow through it freely then your wastegate is shot, if not then it's fine

let us know the diagnosis

If it's the wastegate he'd have real high boost at the lower RPM. We need to know what the car is boosting. Anything above 9psi will be a bad wastegate on a stock car and when the weather is cold it will cause the cut at higher RPM.

Need more info on the details of what the car is doing. Go drive it Neox, we had the same issues with your car and it wasn't the wastegate. Or was it?

lol, drive to WI? I'll pass haha

but yea, mine was partially due to the wastegate....I forget what else was the problem back then (I've had soo many lol) but the problem I was having at mazfest was the damn egr tube wasn't sealing properly at the exhaust manifold >.<

it would be sealed at idle, but under boost it would push it away from the manifold just enough to throw off the MAF sensor and cause it to just dump a crapload of fuel in even though it wasn't getting that air past the manifold (also hence why I could semi-boost if I didn't mash the pedal to the floow)

Your problem is still there. I have the shortest ram possible and don't have any cut issues. I have a perfectly working wastegate all the problematic vac lines have been taken care of and all the clamps are secured.

Neox you had some cracked vac lines and couplers that were just sort of hanging out where the were supposed to be clamped to.

Yeah those boost leaks are the worst to diagnose. You have to have the car under load to find it. Unless you get into the engine bay while someone drives the car you wont find it.

I do not condone being in the engine bay while someone drives the car.

Neox is small enough that he could try it, maybe even with the hood closed. Well...maybe.

We really know how to ruin a good thread don't we.

The vac lines are a hard leak to find under boost.

A homemade boost leak tester if you have access to an air compressor might be a more safe option...or a shop with a smoke machine.
