I thought that my car has been smoking, but it's been white so I thought no big deal. Well today at 10,xxx miles sitting at a red light I smelled this awful burning smell and saw TONS of blue smoke through my rearview. Never seen smoke that BLUE in person in my life. Ouch.....

I made another thread asking if there is a way to clear CELs from memory (I would appreciate a PM) but for this thread I am asking if anyone knows any dealerships in md/dc/va who are alright with mods. I am going to take everything off except my boost gauge, turbo timer, maybe intake and visual mods.

HELP???(spank)

Rosenthal Arlington is probably the friendliest around here with mods, but IMHO you should remove the boost gauge, intake and turbo timer, too.

Yeah, I was afraid you'd say to go completely back to stock. If it looks like the meet this Saturday is gonna get snowed out I might start on it Thanksgiving morning before going to the parents' house. Arlington is also about an hour and a half drive (Howard County) but hopefully worth the drive.

I doubt there is any debate whether or not the seals are gone.

:: sigh :: (nuts)

browns mazda in alexandria was cool. I never have any issues with them. But still kind of far from howard county.

You paying a shop to remove your downpipe lestat ?

Might be naiive but yeah that's the plan. The only thing I haven't done myself is downpipe. I feel comfortable doing everything else from suspension to fmic to cdfp... but just heard downpipe was awful and didn't wanna accidentally trash the threads on the turbo or have something similar go wrong.

Maybe if I hold out til it warms up a bit (I know it's gonna be a while) maybe we could do a MD or VA install meet and I could get some help.

Now I am hearing people say certain dealers will replace WITH downpipe, and someone else says even a new turbo will smoke. I don't believe either statement, but I'm gonna call around and feel this one out. I'm not going be rash.

Well i'm not going to force you to believe me but me and others have had our turbos replaced and we've started smoking again. also the super stock turbos have also smoked. Only ones that haven't smoked are an after market turbo likt the ato garrett turbos. Your Dp is making the smoking apparent but you taking your car to a dealer with mods on it is putting your self at risk to have your warranty voided AND your smoking issue may also not be corrected. Think about it.....

Is your dp catted?

downpipe is not catted. I am completely catless.

Darksun, what would you do in my situation? Isn't the turbo seals leaking hurting my turbo, engine, and performance? I don't have the skill to pull the turbo myself and don't have the time/money to not have my car (I literally need it EVERY day and I commute 40 miles). Would those krank vents help? What would you do in my situation??

Btw, you the same darksun who's been racing laloosh?

I'v been hearing a lot of storys about this. It seams like a mysterious issue with the smoking turbos, i have not hurd a cause for it. but it seams like any kind of cat installed will solve most of the issues. i do plan on buying a Cat'ed DP from turboxs. hopeing this will advoid this issue. i have a few friends who work at the mazda dealership here in frederick

lestat i would say look up that one guy's thread with the dp that went to the dealership and got his turbo replaced. I know you and I are thinking about the same thread, the guy with a black MS3 and the picture of the dp/rp laying on the floor while the car was up in the air on the lift at the dealer! I could SWEAR that guy was in the MA area, and if that is the case, find that thread and pm that guy to find out his dealership because if it worked for him and its in MA then you should go there and save the cost and time of uninstalling things.

Also I know people like to take things off before they go to the dealership, but I seriously would think the dealership would know things were tampered with or removed as the paint they put on the screws would show that they have been removed right? I know if its swapped back to stock I would think they could still tell that you've removed it and maybe even void the warranty? Tho I dont know how they would prove its rmeoved as you could probably tell them you went in and "tightened" the stock screws just as a precaution and that's why the paint is removed. All I'm saying is that I don't think the dealerships are COMPLETELY retarded but they would have to notice when things have been tampered with or swapped back to stock for their visit just by looking at it and seeing it appears to have been removed at some point.

IF you take it in make sure your 100% STOCK leave nothing to chance. Also edit your post on here saying that you have mods cause YES they do check here. Mazda voided me with stuff off this website. People will tell you thats over kill till mazda voids your ass. Its your call I know smoking like a freight train is embarrassing I went through it already. Mine went away with thicker oil for the most part. Occasional hits of meth also suppresses it cause the air is too saturated to smoke. And ya I'm the one who raced the great Laloosh lol.
