aftermarket hoods!!

I'd like to see someone do replacement roof panel in CF, like the some of the BMW Motorsports models.

that would be dope. i would do that much quicker than any hood replacement.

the stock hood feels like an anvil.

it's supposed to

Any thing to move weight from the the front would be great for chassis balance and to some degree, understeer. What does the stock hood weigh compared to cf pieces?

i disagree. the stock hood is heavy for a reason. eliminating some of that weight will cause more wheel hop and less traction during acceleration.

fwd car - weight up front to keep the wheels on the ground.

mazda engineered it this way by design, which is why i'd rather have that weight savings up top on the roof to lower the center of gravity and all that.

Maybe if the opening of the hood scoop was wider then it might look decent..

i agree. im also not a fan of the tapered look of the scoop. designing a nice scooped hood for this car is tough because the car has an overall rounded look but lots of angular accents on it. a big square scoop like the scoobys have would look out of place too. i do think that a cowl induction style hood would look pretty badass tho.

I literally have no clue what you just said...

but seriously not a fan of the hood, I would say do a bit for r&d first

he's not easy to understand because he doesn't use punctuation very often

(blah)(blah)(blah)(blah)(blah)

nonetheless, i understand him and give him the benefit of the doubt cause he's in new york. and while long island is not my home town - ny unite

I respect your opinion on this. If i lightened the car i would remove weight from the front on this car in particular The weight bias is a little lopsided for a performance road car. And the stock suspension which favors comfort over stability is a very nice compromise for folks. Also my car is not a drag car. weight is always the enemy in the attempt to move the car along quicker, regardless. with less weight in the front, that will affect the car in many ways for sure. But that stuff I can tune around. Suspension rates and weighting and brake bias can be tuned. The only way to overcome weight is more ponies. and I hate to say it, but our cars are porky already. Lets lighten up and balance the chassis!.... 1200 for a hood wowee. So any one got any weight savings on hoods? thanks for input B

dude to pay 1200 for that one hood with the baby dick sized scoop, I would prefer to buy a scoop and mold it to the hood and have ti repainted for a lot less than that.

NOT TO SOUND RICER... but has anyone should about those sti-style stick on hood scoops? Just having it painted and stick to the hood and cut a hole in the hood for the ait to flow through to the TMIC? I mean, looking at the sti hood stoop it isn't molded to the hood there are indentations and rivets around the scoop and it is removable, so one that sticks on to the hood would probably look just the same so no one can say the sti one is any better than one that sticks on with double sided tape

I think they both look the same, you could get the stick on scoop, paint it to match the car and even cut the hole in the hood over the TMIC like the sti/wrx does

Any oppinions on that????

Ok, wis, help me out again. Which is the lightest? poly u the stock s*** I think, fiberglss, or a well sorted carbon like seibon or vs. And which would you pick for a drivers car durability?

yep its lighter and as a hood it should work very well.....as good as carbon....my friend have fiberglass one on his 500hp rx7 and never complained......but carbon always will remind me about f1cars, light and hard as s***.....
