HDTV recommendations

I have a Sony SXRD (LCoS) rear projection and love it.

I have found to my eyes that:

Sony and Mitsubishi have the best rear projection.

Sony has the best LCD.

Panasonic and Pioneer have the best plasma.

They are actually one of the worst(notcool)

Their projectors however are very nice

Truth. Samsung is what you want. Grab a nice 46" Samsung LCD at 1080p and you'll be set. Should cost you around $1700 to $2000.

I recently picked this up from a store:

https://www.amazon.com (commissions earned)

I like it so far but have not had the chance to actually test out and HD quality things since I will be moving out in a month and will be doing my blu-ray shopping next month. I like it so far and picked Plasma over LCD. I got a pretty good deal at the time in the store you just have to shop around. It all depends on what you want. You might also want to check out AVS forums since they provide a lot of knowledge (besides 1sty of coarse). But you could always put AVS then the model number into google and something should pop up.

Good luck and god speed.

Samsung ftw!!! My g/f's sister is giving me her entertainment stand and had a 42" in there which honestly did not fit in the space. I'm looking to get a Samsung 37" 1080P LCD for it. Looks like Best Buy is the only place who carries it at this point for about $1199.99.

Have you looked into a independent shop in town? I went to one and haggled on the price easily. Do some shopping since Amazon also is fair on prices most of the time.

i have been unable to find any independent stores. anyone know of any in the northern/central kentucky area? haha

I use my 32" as a monitor too! I download tons of movies and watch them right off the HDD. It's great for PC gaming too.

ive been playing original starcraft lately and its amazing how bad the graphics were compared to now.

Try the first warcraft if you want to see bad

Although Heros Quest is still king...gotta love DOS

I recently purchased a Samsung LN46A550 LCD for $1520 with tax at BB (and, it fit perfectly between my P5's wheel wells when I picked it up!). It was on sale for $1619.00 and I used a 10% coupon available at the Post Office in their Movers Guide (hint hint.)

It was rated best 46/47-inch LCD by PCWORLD:

Seriously, check out this tv. I love it!

About all I can tell you is you can't shop by specs like contrast ratio -- best bet is to actually go and look at some sets. In reality they are all pretty darn good these days so it's hard to go wrong except for price.

Keep in mind when looking in a store, they are generally not all on the same quality feed, and are not all cal'ed. They are set to be bright and get your attention, especially towards the models with higher margins.

This is true, on a more specific note, all tv's at the store have been calibrated using the spyder tool. So don't expect to get the same quality when you take the tv home. TV will obvioulsy look amazing but there is still untapped potential inside the internal setting that only a spyder tool can reach.
